I'm going to start fixing MasterChan. We have plenty of CPU power left, but the new database engine is still slowing us down. Expect some instability, or whole areas of the site shut down from time to time. Since the whole chan is already unusable, I'll be testing directly in here instead of trying to simulate our settings on my local server. It will be faster this way, and the latency between our servers real.
I'll see about serving images through nginx or something like varnish, to take the load out of apache. I'd have to do that at some point anyway, and that may keep everything working fine even when images load slower without a cache. Meanwhile, I still have to enable/disable images every once in a while to keep the server going, and I'll retain the lock on making new posts until all is well. This will most likely only be over by tomorrow, since I have to do some research first on what is the best solution.
You should only see ads on masterchan when you are linked from another site, like google, a link on youtube or a forum and so on. I've set up a test page for those that are seeing ads even when they are not linked to masterchan from outside places. Click on this link https://masterchan.org/anontest 1) what does the page says? It should say "no referer", but those still seeing ads will most likely display a different message 2) even if it says "no referer", are you still getting the ads tab when you click around on that page?
