Slack wants to help support people in the world who are doing good things. Through our Slack for Education program, we offer an 85% discount off of any of our annual plans to:
- Not-for-profit and formally accredited K-12 or higher educational institutions.
- Any student groups directly associated with approved institutions. Members must be 18 years old to sign up.
To be considered for Slack for Education, please complete the Slack for Education Application. Very large organizations (100+) should include some notes on how they intend to use Slack so we can help you get the most out of it. You will need to submit all of the following information to us:
- Your Slack team (yourteamname.slack.com).
- The registered or legal name of your institution, including department if applicable, or your student group associated with the institution.
- The plan you are interested in upgrading to (Standard or Plus)
- Your organization's website URL
- A brief description (1-5 sentences) of your organization
- The anticipated size of your Slack team
- Documentation supporting your not-for-profit and/or accredited education status. This is most likely a letter from your institutions central administrator. Please include a scanned copy of this documentation.
- You will also need to acknowledge and agree to the following statement that lets us know you comply with our program eligibility requirements.
By submitting this application, I certify that my organization:
- is a not-for-profit and/or accredited educational institution or a student group associated with the institution
- does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, political affiliation or beliefs, sexual orientation, or gender identity or expression
- does not promote a particular religious affiliation, dogma, or doctrine as part of its mission or in exchange for its services

Slack for Education FAQ
What exactly do we get if we qualify for the Slack for Education program?
If you qualify, your Slack account will be upgraded to Slack's Standard or Plus plan. Visit our pricing page for details on the available plans.
We already pay for Slack. Can you refund our current plan?
We do not offer refunds for qualifying educational institutions or student groups currently enrolled in a paid plan. If you qualify for Slack for Education, your discounted paid plan will begin in the next billing cycle.
How much will I pay?
Slack for Education is offered at an 85% discount off of our annual plan prices. For our Standard plan, this discount comes out to a total cost of $12/user/year. For our Plus plan, this discount comes out to a total cost of $30/user/year.
I am an educational institution based outside the United States. Can I still qualify for this discount?
If you are a not-for-profit, accredited educational institution outside of the United States, please submit the documentation with your application and we will evaluate it.
What? I got rejected! How do I appeal?
At this time, we don't process appeals for consideration. If the nature of your organization changes, feel free to reapply. You can also check back to see if we begin a new program for your type of organization, as we are always evolving and growing.
Remember: Everyone can use Slack for free for as long as they like, but not every organization may meet our eligibility requirements to qualify for this program. The lawyers want you to know that Slack sets these guidelines and determines an organization's qualification at our sole discretion. We reserve the right to grant or deny an organization's application or participation at any time, for any reason, and to supplement or amend our eligibility guidelines at any time.
