Not to say that I don't think ISIS continues to pose a long-term threat in the Iraq & Syria and sits on massive potential capacity, but it's nowhere near what's being depicted in that paragraph.

In Mosul, operatives are unable to move, let alone having embezzlement operations (they have carried out operations inside the city, but they were few & unimpressive); and there are no clear indications that the referenced Mosul VBIEDs are actually connected to Daesh.

Charles's statement/assessment about Iraq is simply inaccurate; ISIS operations in Mosul --and Iraq-- decreased significantly in the past seven months. They are actually suffering and barely surviving, according to their own numbers.

ISIS al-Naba Magazine copy-pastes the same news from North Baghdad into Diyala Province section. Should 'fire' their editor! 🤣

It’s 7 years since I started coming regularly to Iraq. Once upon a time I needed a VIP escort from Baghdad airport. Today I just grabbed a taxi to my hotel. Nightlife’s been booming for a while; now the checkpoints are disappearing & the blast walls coming down 🎉
