Critique my website? (self.cscareerquestions)

I've been coding for about 7 months now and have finally put together a website for myself. I don't have any projects on it yet, but I'm working on that and trying to get involved in the local tech community and contribute to projects. If you guys wouldn't mind giving your impressions of the site, I would really appreciate it. http://daarons.com/

What I would expect with someone with your experience.

Opinion: increase the line height of all your text. It makes it easier to read and seem less crowded.

The "Home" area looks great, though the rest of it is difficult/annoying to read - I'd highly recommend muting the background images to make the content stand out more.

I'm on mobile. A couple of things I found are: the background picture is fairly pixelated and the contact links are super hard to read.

I noticed the same. Also, the color scheme is not appealing to me (totally just my opinion). I do applaud you for including bootstrap though. The dropdown menu works well on my phone and has a nice scrolling effect to the relevant section. Good work! Keep it up!

content is fine, but it kind of... assaults my eyes. It's usually not good to put text over a busy photo background. Try to clean up the design.

also you need a favicon.ico

I agree on the text issue. it needs a transparent background, something so that the text is readable over the picture. Maybe make all of the left half have a transparent column background.

I think the text should also be indented somewhat from the edge of the screen. Take reddit comments as an example, they aren't pressed completely at the left of the page.

Otherwise I think the design is great, just need to clean up the text! Take a look at bootstrap: http://getbootstrap.com/ It's a really nice open source CSS framework produced by Twitter.

Over time as your projects grow, you probably want a separate projects page.

The text looks too crowded and it'd be easier to read if you increase the line spacing. In your third paragraph in the About Me section, the word "reading" is touching the photo of the next section.

Single colored text on a non plain background (pictures) doesn't look good for me. The Green header is not bad. Simple and precise.

I also read ur blog. I know you're new, but you don't have to reverse the string to check if it's a palindrome.

What I like: Simple, easy to navigate, one-column scrolling format.

What I don't like: Text is hard to read on all that background. I recommend adding a semi-transparent layer between your text and the background image to make it easier to read. Something like this picture

Get rid of those background images. I suggest solid colors instead

Eh. It's not really BAD, but you need to do something about the backgrounds because they have nothing to do with the content you're trying to present, yet they make the content painfully unreadable. The orange links on the bright blue sky make me want to squint. The code itself works fine, which is to be expected - nothing here is too involved.

Work on the design/planning a bit more, and you should be fine :)
