This thread is for posting requests for resume critiques, mock interviews, and general interview advice.

Common Advice

• Objectives are rarely needed unless it's not obvious what you want. Generally it's obvious (you want a job).
• Aim for a single page, especially if you have less than ten years of experience.
• If you are still in school, have an expected graduate date.
• GPA is not important if it is under 3.0 or you have been out for a while (e.g., graduated >5 years ago).
• Order sections by importance/strength of your information.

For Undergraduates

Education (should ALWAYS be first):

• Include the degree (spell out BS please), university name and location, expected graduation date and GPA (if it's higher than a 3.0).

• Don't include: your coursework or a description of your coursework.

  Chances are, there's someone out there in your university who has taken the same exact courses you have or someone in another college has done the same.

Experience and Projects:

• Include a good description of what is it that you worked on or created, what YOU did specifically/what you contributed technically, the languages used to create the program/app/software.
• Use bullets! Paragraphs are a lot harder to skim than resumes and that's very important when a recruiter has 20 seconds to read your resume and decide if you're cool or not.
• Don't include: a list of languages - just a list, it doesn't help anyone to read just a list of languages, find a way to incorporate them into your descriptions.
• Don't write generic and vague sentences like "created an app" (okay, what kind of app? Did you use and sdk's or apis?, etc)

Skills

• Include: a list of languages/tools/softwares you're comfortable with.

  You can order them based on proficiency (beginner, intermediate, expert) or just list them.

  Break down the list if you have a lot of languages/tools/software.

• Don't include: MS Office - it's not a skill anymore. Don't put it on there.
