It's no secret that both Battlefield V and Battlefield 2042 had less than stellar launches, and that might be a tad bit generous. That's why it was reported that Electronic Arts were hoping to avoid a disastrous launch with Battlefield 6.
However, even with those previous misses, it seems that fans are fully confident in what they've seen so far with Battlefield 6, as the game has already begun charting both on the PlayStation Store and Steam.
On Steam, the game has bounced between the No. 1 and No. 2 spots on the Bestsellers list, wrestling with Counter-Strike 2 for the top spot. If you remove free-to-play titles, then it is No. 1.
Meanwhile, over on the PlayStation Store, BF6 is both the No. 1 and No. 2 game on the top pre-orders chart, with its $99.99 "Phantom Edition" standing as the top pre-order, and the $69.99 standard edition as the second best.
Those pre-order figures feel less shocking when you also remember that over 1.3 million people tried signing up for Battlefield Labs without even seeing gameplay. That level of interest has no doubt grown as more of the game is being showcased.
Each Of The Last Two Battlefield Releases Were Rough, To Say The Least
For those who might've forgotten or aren't in the know, Battlefield 2042 infamously launched without a scoreboard, a feature that wasn't added until months later. At the time, it was one of the worst-reviewed titles on Steam, and its glitches and bugs quickly went viral overnight.
And before all of that messiness, Battlefield V was just as bad when it launched. So bad that there was a bug that froze your game when you opened a menu. All that is to say, it wouldn't be surprising if the game had soft pre-orders given the previous missteps, but it appears that those are just blips in the minds of gamers.
