In April 2022, we at Tanichu Asset Management completed the construction of the 43-story high-rise condominium, J-TOWER2, which continues to delight many people. Recently in the building, I happened to overhear a casual conversation between some Cambodians who had purchased rooms in J-TOWER2.
“I have condos for investment, but J-TOWER2 is the best place to live.”
Until now, real estate development in Cambodia has been dominated by “investment buyers,” and I decided on the layout and facilities of J-TOWER2 on the assumption that it would be an investment property. However, it seems that the opinions of Cambodians are gradually changing, and I began to think that they want a “condominium that they really want to live in.”
“Let’s Invest in Cambodia!”
There is definite merit in investment opportunities. However, a condominium is a place where people live. I’m not saying that it’s wrong to build condominiums with investment as the top priority, and other companies probably think the same way. But I suddenly had the thought, “Haven’t we been leaning too much towards investment?”
More than 10 years have passed since I started working in Cambodia, and this country has grown significantly. Our company has grown a lot, but so have the Cambodian people. It’s only natural that they would think, “We’ve grown a lot. We need cities and buildings that are worthy of that growth!” It’s not just that I want to attract investment, but now I also have the idea, “Wouldn’t it be nice if this country had condominiums that the whole world would envy?”
With this thought in mind, I started planning the new “J-TOWER3.” I wanted to build a condominium that we can be proud to present to the world and a condominium that Cambodians can live in with pride, built by Japanese hands.
“Like a Seven Star Hotel”
The concept of J-TOWER2 is to provide luxury “Like a Hotel”, and we aim to provide an even more upgraded level of luxury with our “Like a Seven Star Hotel” J-TOWER3.
I have travelled around the world and studied luxury condominiums in various countries. Among them, the condominiums on Park Avenue in Manhattan, New York, impressed me as being some of the best.
If Cambodian people want the pride of living in the best condominiums in the world, that condominium must rival the most advanced condominiums in New York. We cannot become the best in the world unless we surpass them.
And we will create the best in the world here in Cambodia. With that mindset, we started designing our new building.
J-TOWER3 is a super-tall condominium with a height of over 320 meters, each floor boasting high ceilings. The top floor is equipped with a sky bar, sky pool, and a restaurant exclusively for residents. Since it will be the tallest building in Phnom Penh, there is nothing obstructing the view, so the view from the top floor will truly be a one-of-a-kind experience, one that makes you feel like you are touching the sky.
In addition, it is designed not only for investment purposes but also for the people who will truly live there in mind, so we will provide two heated pools in addition to the sky pool and a water park. For adults, the condominium will be equipped with a sauna, cold bath, and spa, as well as a fitness gym, golf simulator, karaoke rooms, and a two-lane bowling alley.
In other words, J-TOWER3 will be a condominium of superior luxury where you can entertain yourself, relax, and spend your time leisurely without ever having to step outside. A 7-star class condominium such has never been seen before, either in Cambodia or worldwide, will be created here in Phnom Penh. This is such an exciting development!
This is possible because Cambodia has had incredible economic growth, and this building we are creating will, therefore, be a fitting symbol of modern Cambodia.
Our team is not only concerned about providing novelty. Many may be concerned about security in such a bustling city as Phnom Penh. Even for ones who are home very consistently, getting sick is also a cause for anxiety. J-TOWER3 is also responding to the need for safety and security. We will have a 24-hour security team on-site, a disaster prevention system, and a 24-hour nursing station set up to care for the health and emergency medical needs of our residents. We are the first to provide all such services in Cambodia, and we will work hard to ensure safety and security.
In short, our goal is for people to be amazed by J-TOWER3 and say, “What is this? I’ve never seen anything like it before!” We want to live in J-TOWER3 to become a status symbol. I myself am excited about the construction. J-TOWER3, the symbol of development and prestige here in Cambodia, is being built by Japanese hands.
Our Story
Finally, let’s talk a little more about the story of J-TOWER3. It may seem like a fantasy to say that we are building a condominium that no one has ever seen before, something bigger than New York’s Manhattan.
First of all, we were very particular about the height of J-TOWER3. This is because we believe that “living higher than anyone else” will be a great source of pride for the residents as a symbol of Cambodia’s development and prestige.
There is, of course, no precedent for this height. During the construction of J-TOWER2, there was a discussion with the Cambodian government about our goals for the height of the building, but the government could not easily give approval.
I was particularly interested in J-TOWER3 because it has 77 floors, as 7 is Cambodia’s lucky number. After negotiating with the government many times, I was finally able to get approval from the then-Prime Minister. It was recognised that a 77-story building in the centre of Phnom Penh would be a “building that symbolizes Cambodia’s development and prestige”. This was the most gratifying thing to hear. I would like to add that this government approval was not obtained by pulling strings behind the scenes or resolving the matter with money, but rather, it was based on our company’s record of business performance and construction safety management, having zero construction delays or construction accidents over nearly 10 years.
On August 7, 2023, the Minister’s Office of the Ministry of Land Development officially issued the construction permit and development permit for the “Tower Condominium Project J- TOWER3.”
With a height of 320 meters and 77 floors, it will be the tallest building in Cambodia. It will also be one of the top 10 tallest buildings in Southeast Asia. We are very proud that this building will be built in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We believe this project will inspire and encourage many Cambodians. With that in view, we will proudly put forth our best efforts until the completion of J-TOWER3.
And to everyone reading this article, please look forward to the completion of J-TOWER3. It will be a condominium like no one has ever seen before, and it will be built in Phnom Penh. Living here symbolises the development and prestige of Cambodia and gives the residents great power and pride.
The view from the 77th floor is the future of Cambodia. With J-TOWER3, we promise you will be able to live the highest quality life in Phnom Penh.
