An Xbox 360 fan purchased a used console from Goodwill, and it happened to be one with the coveted Blades dashboard. The Xbox 360 user interface went through a number of changes over the console's lifespan. The first batch of Xbox 360 consoles launched with the fan favorite Blades dashboard, but that was eventually erased and replaced with new UI experiences.

Early adopters of the Xbox 360 have become incredibly nostalgic for the Blades dashboard, calling for it to return on modern Xbox consoles. Microsoft has made no indication that it ever plans on bringing back the Blades, but it has paid tribute to the iconic UI. Just recently, Microsoft released an Xbox 360 Blades dynamic background for modern consoles. While some feel the dynamic background doesn't go far enough to properly pay tribute to the Blades, others are just happy to have something at all.

After purchasing a used Xbox 360, one gamer is experiencing a major problem preventing them from playing the console’s classic titles.

Used Xbox 360 consoles with the Blades dashboard have become popular among collectors and tend to go for high prices online. Luckily, Reddit user readyuser4 managed to find a used Xbox 360 console with the Blades dashboard while shopping at Goodwill. They didn't say in the post how much they paid for the console, but since they bought it at Goodwill, one has to imagine that it couldn't have been all that expensive.

Xbox 360 With Blades Dashboard Discovered at Goodwill

If one does manage to get their hands on an Xbox 360 with the Blades dashboard, the most important thing they can do is make sure that they never connect it to the Internet. While one might be tempted to connect their Xbox 360 to the internet, doing so will trigger an update that will erase the Blades dashboard and replace it with the newest 360 UI. This would instantly make the console less valuable. That being said, being unable to connect the 360 online means missing out on important features in many of the games, and so it is somewhat understandable that some people decide to do so anyway.

There is actually less reason than ever to connect an Xbox 360 Blades dashboard to the Internet. While Xbox 360 online multiplayer servers remain online at the time of this writing, Microsoft just recently shut down the Xbox 360 marketplace. This means that it is no longer possible to purchase digital games through the Xbox 360. That combined with the fact that many Xbox 360 online multiplayer games aren't exactly well populated nowadays anyway, and it's safe to say that anyone that happens to get a 360 with the Blades dashboard is better off never taking it online.
