Wrongly titled as it is a 'non-album cuts' collection (despite the fact that it includes "I Still Miss Someone" from his first Columbia LP). It was wisely concidered as an album on the 'The Complete Columbia Album Collection'. Ring of Fire is a huge classic of course but the whole LP is strong. There is a bit of everything : love songs, cowboy songs, gospel..  Very good early 60's material from Johnny Cash.

Another typical early 60s pop album. Random singles compiled together on a 12" LP with very little care, focus or cohesion and given a misleading name. It makes for an uneven aimless listen. Columbia got lucky in that Johnny Cash was a strong enough performer to withstand cashgrabs such as these, since there's still a few strong tracks here including the iconic title track.

Highlighted as one of the key albums of 'The Complete Columbia Album Collection' of Johnny Cash, this one has the first album release of "Ring Of Fire".  In fact, the majority of the album (except for "I Still Miss Someone" which was originally released on The Fabulous Johnny Cash) is a collection of all the non-album singles that were released to that point.  Other classics include "Remember the Alamo" and "Tennessee Flat-Top Box".

Even if it's not really the "best" of Johnny Cash considering he made so many other great songs after this, this is still a pretty good album with some amazing tunes. I dare you not to be moved by "Were You There".

Mono Johnny when he was a rebel rockin' country prince. Not yet a god, but all the makin's are there. A great intro to the man's post Ten' 2 work and pre variety show years. Yep!
