locate where a past friend or family member was buried and in some cases you
can add burial records. Results are best
obtained if you have their first and last name as a minimum. If you have
additional information such as the city or state of their death this will
assist you in locating them easier and much faster.

Locate or add
burial records - plus locate civil, church,
cemetery, obituary, and other death-related information. In addition
to details about the person's death, you can also locate birth information, family
origins, cause of death, and more. Includes indexes that can
help you request the actual death record, and in some cases, actual images of the
death records. Use the information you find in one type of death record to
seek out other death-related records.
Family Name Search
Family Search will locate a name
back to the originating country as applicable. Searching your own name will
also bring up some interesting facts you might not have realized. Note:
You will have the opportunity to download a file (also free) which will
include the deceased SSN (for your verification), their religion, source of
the death data plus other good to know information. The file format is ".GED"
(information
on that here) which is related to genealogy program use, however
once you save this file to your hard drive you can easily open and then view
it via windows notepad or any similar text viewer.

Social Security Death Index Search
The Social Security Administration Death Master File contains
information on millions of deceased individuals with United States social
security numbers whose deaths were reported to the Social Security
Administration. Birth years for the individuals listed range from 1875 to last
year. Information in these records includes name, birth date, death date, and
last known residence.
National Obituary Archive
Obituaries, memorials and funeral homes. Also complete a hometown
search or view their "week in history" section".
US Veteran's Grave Locator
Search for burial locations of veterans and their family members
in VA National Cemeteries, state veterans cemeteries, various other military
and Department of Interior cemeteries, and for veterans buried in private
cemeteries when the grave is marked with a government grave marker. The
Nationwide Gravesite Locator includes burial records from many sources.
Cemetery Junction
Cemetery Junction is about helping the genealogy community find
information about their ancestors. Cemeteries are an excellent source for
genealogy. Many of the cemeteries in their directory are linked to

US Gen Web Project
US Gen Web is a group of volunteers working together to provide
free genealogy websites for genealogical research in every county and every
state of the United States. The project is non-commercial and fully committed

A large people finder and genealogy resource site. This particular
page lists many resource links such as tracing a family tree, various search

African American Genealogical Society
You can post genealogy queries in the surname forums and
automatically be notified when someone responds to your query. You can also
announce upcoming family reunions, have your four-generation ancestor chart
posted on the web site and get access to a comprehensive directory of links to
genealogical resources.
American - French Genealogical Society
The American-French Genealogical Society is dedicated to the study
and preservation of the French-Canadian culture. Their main office and library
located in Woonsocket, RI, USA and most of their research material is in
English.
Canadian Census
Search
This fifth census of Canada covers the nine provinces and two
territories of Canada as of 1911: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New
Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan,
the Yukon Territory, and the Northwest Territories. The census provides many
details about individuals and families including: name, gender, age,
birthplace, year of immigration, nationality, and origin. The names of those
listed in the census are linked to actual images of the 1911 Census.
Ellis Island Records
Free search of the Port of New York records. Find out if your
family or people you know arrived by ship to Ellis Island, view their age on

This is genealogy site and is limited in that you can locate how
many people with a certain last name born during a certain century, however
for the details it requires a minimum of a "7 day trial" sign up in order to

Find out how famous people died. Not a gore related site, very
tasteful, full of information and categorized for ease of searching and

likelihood to die during that year. Candidates must have be famous in their
own right.
