Whoever sent the artifact was calling SCDP's bluff in an extremely racist manner by suggesting that black people were no more employable than African statues.

I didn't understand it either - it came attached with a paper, and Sterling read something like "it's a resume: 1960 to '65, towed a dead barge, lifted a dead bale." Suggesting that the African statue has no skills of relevance on his resume, and so neither would the group of black people in the waiting area?

Are you talking about their thing in the newspaper? If it was about the article, then it's just the fact that they weren't really going to hire anyone, as it was just a stab at Y & R.

They showed up thinking it was an ad for employment. From what I understand they're trying to keep costs down, so hiring someone isn't really all that practical at this point, unless they fire someone else.

If that's not what you're talking about, then I dunno.

No, he means the tribal statue that Y&R sent over when all the black people were in the lobby
