Ok.. After your last suggestion installing this - sudo apt install linux-generic-hwe-16.04 - speeds are more worse fell to 2.5 MBps, Is there any way to uninstall that. Sorry if I'm asking too many questions!

It really shouldn't do that even if it was worse than bbr. Anyways, while its unlikely they will be able to do anything, you should open a ticket with hetzner about this.

Sorry I should have been more clear, I meant a progress check option when running the automated script lftpsync.sh. The progress is clearly visible using WinSCP no issues there.

If you have pushover configured already then can you please share that as that will do.

I'll do some testing on the move job. Thanks.

I was using these tweaks on Ubuntu 16 myself, so no it shouldn't make much difference. Oh well, sorry for wasting your time. I guess there's more going on here that tcp tweaks can't fix. :(

Tried. No difference unfortunately :s. Does it make any difference if I upgrade to ubuntu 17 and add these lines. I can install box via swizzin, looks like it does support 17.

BBR is really much better than HTCP in my testing. HTCP is what I used to use.

But that's fine. You can install the lastest kernel on Ubuntu 16 with this command:

sudo apt install linux-generic-hwe-16.04

Remember to reboot.

Try replacing

net.ipv4.tcp_congestion_control = bbr

with

net.ipv4.tcp_congestion_control = htcp

And then reboot again.

Hmm.. disappointing. Just to double-check you have Debian 9 or Ubuntu 17 on your seedbox? It needs a newer kernel for one of the tweaks (BBR congestion control) to work right.

If you main use will be a box stream and seedbox (not racing) a SYS server will be enough on BHS datacenter @ 250Mbps you can stream any file as direct play. I have one them and I'm able to playback any files on my seedbox without any problem, also a Kimusfi @ 100Mbps could handle them until a 4k Remux some of them get buffers and need more bandwidth.

Peering on Google Fiber is lackluster? Interesting...I'll have to look into that.

I'm well aware that speedtest is about as telling as a ping when it comes to overall performance. However I've used the connection for a vast amount of variety with no other issues. FTP transfers to the seedbox has been the only one and it's been quite drastic obviously.

Sure..Was getting 3 MBps prior to installing tweaks, now its upto 4 MBps. With oneprovider, I was getting 10 MBps. Some reason, on hetzner it starts at 9 to 10 MBps but after few seconds it goes down. My home conn speed is 100 mbps

Editing one text file is really not that hard, and very much worth it. Just try it, it's really not anything at all.

save

Yes, because their peering is sucky. You'll want to run traceroute and MTR from your vps.

The"speed test" is simply one server, to your home. The route your downloads from speedhost are taking are likely different.

You haven't mentioned using their "bouncer" servers for FTP transfers, so I suggest trying that out before thinking about a VPN.
