Attorney General Jeff Sessions has retained an attorney with a long history of defending outrageous causes.

Charlie “Chuck” Cooper

Attorney Charlie “Chuck” Cooper defended Bob Jones University’s ban on interracial dating.  Mr. Cooper had argued that the university’s ban on interracial dating was based on “sincere religious beliefs”.

He also defended the right of employers to discriminate against people infected with HIV.

He most recently supported the losing side of the marriage equality argument.

President Donald Trump originally assessed Mr. Cooper for the role of Solicitor General.

The attorney backed out because he was upset with how the U.S. Senate had treated his good friend Mr. Sessions during the confirmation process.
