British Prime Minister David Cameron says South Korea is a successful example of an open, vibrant market economy.
Cameron called South Korea a "beacon of light" at the Open Government Partnership conference in London as he introduced plans to create a publicly accessible central registry of information.
Ahead of President Park Geun-hye’s upcoming state visit to Britain next week, Cameron said South Korea is a global business hub and its teenagers rank second in the world for reading.
He also touched on the fact that South Korea’s average life expectancy is 81.
Cameron also contrasted South and North Korea, saying the southern side of the divided Korean Peninsula has seen success in market economy by realizing an open democracy. He said the northern side has seen a decline in its economy due to its closed and corrupt authoritarian government.
