Update from hospital that is treating shooting victims
Loma Linda University Medical Center says they received five adult patients - two critical but stable, two fair, one still being assessed.
The hospital was put on alert for an hour after a bomb threat but it has been cleared.
"I thought, "Oh my God, that could be gunshots," and I pulled over."
David Danelski, a staff writer with the Press Enterprise, has sent his colleagues a dispatch from a neighbourhood backyard as police searched for a suspect.
More cops come and one officer starts yelling at me and pulls his pistol and he asks me what I’m doing there.
“I’m a reporter,” I said.
“How did you end up here?” the cop asks.
“I just got caught up in this,” I told him.

A San Bernardino police spokeswoman said an officer was injured but did not suffer life-threatening wounds after police spotted the vehicle in a nearby neighbourhood.
"A suspect has been hit," she says, but it is unclear if there is still one or two suspects at large.

San Bernarino shooting suspects 'still at large'
"We have suspects at large but we have absolutely no idea where they are," San Bernardino police spokeswoman Vicki Cervantes is quoted by Reuters as saying.

Comments from Chief Burguan, San Bernadino police: "We know a lot of people are very worried about their loved ones. We have set up a centre where family members can go for information. We also have a hot line number people can call if they have any info.
"I've heard everything from the fact that it was a meeting, to a holiday event - I dont know for sure what the case is but I know most of the victims were concentrated in one area."
Mr Burguan said he no information that children were involved and preliminary information indicates "that these were people who came prepared".

The Washington Post built a map to show incidents in which four or more people were injured or killed by gunfire in 2015.
The author explains, the yellow circle is San Bernardino (with unconfirmed reports of the victims so far); the blue circles are those in which people were killed; outlined circles are the number injured.
There have been mass shooting incidents in 46 states and in DC Florida, Illinois and California have had the most incidents. In each state, there have been at least 22 shooting incidents in which four or more people were shot.

Suspect weapons were 'not handguns'
During the press conference, police said they believed the suspects were not using handgun, i.e. short, hand-held guns but "long guns". A police spokesman refused to specify further, meaning the weapons used could be anything from a hunting rifle to assault-style weapons
What is the Inland Regional Center?
The shooting took place at the Inland Regional Center, one of 21 facilities set up by the state and run under contract by non-profit organizations to serve people with developmental disabilities, said Nancy Lungren, spokeswoman for the California Department of Developmental Services. According to Alex Vasquez, a videographer an NBC affiliate, the IRC is always busy.
"This is a center that is always full at all hours of the day, so I can just imagine there must have been a lot of people in that building. Sometimes I've been here where the line is even outside," he said.
The facility offers specific programs designed for age groups: 0 to 3-years-old; 3 to 15; 16 to 22; 23 to 59; and adults over 60.

Speaking on CNN, Lavinia Johnson said the centre had been rented out for a county employee holiday event.
Her staff began to exit when they heard a fire alarm but got an active shooter message and went back into the building and locked themselves in their offices.

According to the Washington Post, one person was killed and three were injured in a shooting much earlier in Georgia.

"We don't know where those shooters are," police Sgt Vicki Cervantes says. "They are heavily armed and they are possibly wearing body armour, things of that nature. It is not a safe area to be, it's very dangerous. The fewer innocent people we have in here, the better"

Police are searching for suspects in an SUV
Police are now searching for an SUV that fled the scene of a mass shooting that left up to 20 people injured inside of a social services building in San Bernadino, federal law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times.
At least three suspected shooters vanished from the building after the gunfire, the source said. Police have also used a robot to detonate a suspicious device found on the premises, according to the sources, who requested anonymity because the investigation is active and ongoing.
Police on the scene were assembling a battering ram to gain access to the building, and investigators may believe one suspect was still inside, the source said.
