others can use this space to talk about their own bans I guess I've received 6 warning points over my time on DW, mostly in the period between 2022-2023. I will admit that some of my posts back then (I was turning 15) were not properly thought out, I did not know how old forums work (I couldn't understand how a mod moved a thread I was replying to once), I made grammatica mistakes and could sometimes write nonsesnse - but I've matured past that (The next year after, LOL). DW moderators and clique didn't. I'll find my penatly point message screenshot later, but I can recall what happened back then. One time I was banned for replying in PM's to NineInchHeels; It's a female (presumably) DW user - who, if anyone here knows her\him, is known for being very volatile towards other users. We had some spat in a thread, I felt a little miffed by what she\he said while quoting me, so I went to the PM's to not muddy the initial thread. The next day I got banned for 2 weeks for "harassing" someone in PM's, with a moralising writeup attached to the ban message. I don't think that a slightly confrontational personal message is "harrasment". The issue here is that they allow one part of users to badmouth others, but speaking against it or defending yourself is "wrong" if you're not favoured. By their logic, NineInchHeels harrases people as well, and should be banned. Another ban warning I got was for negatively commenting on the thread for "Doom Zero". My message on the thread might be deleted by now, but back then, after reading the thread and playing the WAD, I decided to be a little theatric and called Doom Zero something like: "A leech that feeds on one's nostalgia". Doom Zero is more or less a subpar Doom 2 fanfiction with custom enemies and SMOOTH VANILLA WEAPONS OH MY FAUCI!!! It also has some weird Doom 2016 tie-in ending. if you'll play it, you'll understand why younger me might've called it that. The warning I was given stated that I was being "toxic". There was also once a thread about Plasma Gun sounds in "Doom General" on DW, it was among many low-effort, non-sequitir threads that DW gets flooded with periodically. The OP was something along the lines of: "Which plasma gun sound do you like most? Doom 1 & 2, Doom 3..." and then I can't recall. I replied: "I like the one that doesn't make threads about whether I like it or not" and got banned for a week for not upholding a "Welcoming community feel". I care less about pixels on a screen now. But my experience with DW was really dissapointing. I'm a Zoomer, but I've been introduced to Doom in early childhood. Started mapping at 12, lurking DW just to understand how the community is like (That was in 2018), and a few years later registered to interact. I was expecting metal heads and regular nerds, or something similar, and instead found vindictive gays. At least I can talk about Doom without walking on eggshells here.

This might make me sound like a pervert (which I'm not), but I love the late 80s early 90s porn aesthetics !

joe-ilya Oh yeah, I forgot, credit my map to 'taRd'. If the other mappers complain or something, use 'jiGe', but I'd prefer 'taRd' to be consistent with CCP.

Your Hellraiser themed resource pack could work with the next installment, if you'd like to lead it. It would be perfect for the Halloween deadline! This project series is in Boom format, so you can keep everything the exact same, without making a messy exception in the DBPs. I consider that a great idea in my books! A Clive Barker-themed Halloween project is an no-brainer of an idea, especially considering it would tackle his most famous franchise. Once it is greenlit I will quickly start with setting up a few maps. Since this will go into the Horror genre it'll allow for more abstract and gorey visuals. Boom also adds the possibilities of voodoo doll events which are giving me plenty of ideas the more it crosses my mind. +1

Monsters in eII are great, so is the new gun. I guess.

I'm sorry you'll gonna be mostly disappointed as I'm not gonna go on a deep analysis.
In two words : too much.
I liked almost every level in Eviternity I, already not a fan of the astral caco but neither disturbed to be fair, I found myself completely worn out by Eviternity II. I enjoyed the first level and the other one by Tristan (map 32), plus another by Scotty, but I found almost all the others boring… Looking back, even Kenosis seems like a let-down to me, whereas I’d loved (and still love) Anagnorisis. I feel the WAD is overwhelmed by its own ambitions, and in that sense is very representative of the year 2024 with its overloaded WADs (Simulacrum, Doom 2 in city only; some might add Necromantic Thirst, which does indeed feature long maps in its third episode, but I love that wad and still find the old-school ‘slaughter’ final segment very varied) – too many details in the trees, too many colours, too many different enemies, levels that are too long, too many secret levels, too much fake variety.
And it’s a combination of all that which stops me from warming to the new monsters. It started with an aesthetic aversion: I hated the way the green colour of the new barons clashed with the other colours, and I simply hated the colour of the ‘little’ purple archviles. The new varieties of cacos really got on my nerves. Secondly, I’m probably wrong, but I can’t recall a single moment when these new demons made an impression on me; they’ve almost always annoyed me because of their pointlessness. It’s not very constructive, I realise that, but my rejection of a very large part of Eviternity II stems from an overall and consistent disappointment with the artistic choices in this sequel which, along with the two other WADs mentioned above (Simulacrum and D2ico) and a few others more in the ‘copycat’ vein (Firefly), has quite unwittingly contributed to a considerable decline in my enthusiasm for Doom because they combine boundless hubris with a ‘quantity over quality’ approach (albeit with an attempt to gloss over it all with SUPER textures, SUPER midis, SUPER new monsters and SUPER new gameplay) – which, ironically and in a different vein, was precisely the theme of timeofdeath’s DMP of the Year.
Yeah, 2024 was the "too much" year and Eviternity II was one big army general of it.
Edit : and about mad new monsters behaviour or colors, I realise I'm not fully against, a priori, it depends of the landscape and ambition of the wad... for instance, I'm quite an enjoyer of Eternal Slumber Party 3 which is very niche... and has crazy new monsters (and infinite ultra speed weapons).

Thank you gents! I've been playing a lot of Thief fan missions lately, and that level is heavily inspired by Thief and the vibe of many Thief "city" levels. I wanted to try to capture that vibe in the level as much as I could, although I will be downplaying the puzzle and switch hunt elements of many Thief levels since I doubt that most Heretic players will enjoy that.

Do you want to use a different midi? I don't mind reusing the same midi twice, since silverminer's map is very short. Not sure what to do yet. I'm still trying out some of the other ones. If I can't pick out or supply a different one by submission time, just go with reuse. I didn't have much to add, so I didn't comment on your map earlier, but I did try it out. It struck me as quite energetic and free flowing, maybe a midi like this? Though, the Pizza Tower music is pretty good, the unserious vibe fits this theme well.

It's funny how people expose themselves online in a very bad way while playing Doom. They either troon out/turn out to be schizos.

good wad. style I like.

That's a huge step up in the lighting department from the previous batch of screenshots

Just want to reiterate what I've said before. All Heretic fans and even casual enjoyers should be looking forward to this one.

I like to think that Eddie is just a happy troll. He seems chill. But always baiting streamers trying out PWADs to play challenge maps like Dimensions and Frog. Hope he doesn't/hasn't fallen into a petty stupor. Don't be peddy, eddy

Eviternity II ended being a point of no return regarding dehacked monsters for me. I mostly agree with you, don’t have much to add. Though, I feel Eviternity II is a great case for dehacked monsters. The changes to vanilla enemies tend to be subtle, and the custom enemies are interesting without straying too much from regular gameplay. The final boss, necromancer mini-boss, and purple imps were particular highlights to me. I’d be interested to hear your perspective.

I have already seen the shoutbox message (and in this thread) about me being a potential DW plant, but this is not the case. I simply can't gain access to my hatred account because I got a new computer, in which I forgot the e-mail account and the password. As sad as this is, it is what it is at the end of the day.
The main reason why I am on Pacifist Paradise in the first place is because when you're lurking on there for a long enough time, you realize how retarded all of it's users really are. Whether it was the 4000+ hour Discord voice call spearheaded by the Lucky_Edie parasite, or the fact that even there, the bushy eyebrow fellow is incapable of being civil against the server residents. And on top of that, the fact that there is a fully public channel there about sharing their personal struggles that otherwise should be kept to themselves, it truly makes you wonder how low they will get. Edie has always struck me as a strange person. I really want to believe in the best of people, but this is not the first nor the second time I've heard about edie behaving one way in front of others then another behind their backs to extensively sabotage their image. Funny how I'm banned in so many twitch chats from streams I've never once engaged with...or even ones I've had nothing but positive experiences in suddenly stripped away only to find out he was a moderator of said channel. It's rather telling, because the only actual beef edie ever had with me was from me not liking every map my first go through of really hard and esoteric ribbiks wads such as frog.wad, toad.wad, f&t.wad to be specific. He had quite an episode in my discord and told me I needed therapy...for not liking a doom wad, but to be fair, I know listening to me on stream slog through painful wads isn't always fun to listen to (or maybe it is depending on your humor) I feel bad, because I know I've probably soured my ties with Ravendesk for wrongfully lumping him in with the other circlejerkers in the past, and seeing something similar happen to him is awful. Some of us just want to enjoy doom, and make cool shit, so if that's his ethos then it's the same as mine and I wish him the best.
