Could sauna therapy be one of the simplest tools for better heart health and longevity?

In this part of the podcast, the doctor explains that he’s a big believer in traditional Finnish sauna therapy because most of the research has been done on that style of sauna.

He says regular sauna use — around 4–5 times per week, 11–12 minutes per session, at about 175–180°F — has been associated with major benefits for cardiovascular health, including lower risk of heart events and all-cause mortality.

He also mentions that new research is starting to show possible brain health benefits too, including protection against cognitive decline, Alzheimer’s, and dementia.

Sauna isn’t magic, but it may be a powerful wellness habit for supporting heart health, circulation, longevity, recovery, stress relief, and overall health optimization.
Would you try sauna therapy as part of your weekly health routine?

Best thing I ever did for recovery was spend 1hr a day in the dry sauna.

My infrared sauna only heats to 167. Is that good enough?

I appreciate this 411 and have heard before, but honestly who has time and the opportunity to go to a sauna 4? times a week? Maybe more places need to open for the mass majority, since heart disease is the #1 killer of Americans!!

Great topic. That's the Finnish KIHD study by Laukkanen, benefits were biggest at 4 to 7 sessions weekly.
