Ghana Inflation Posts Surprise Slowdown as Food-Price Growth Eases

Ghanaian annual inflation unexpectedly slowed in July as food-price growth eased and a more stable exchange rate helped contain the cost of imported goods.

Consumer prices rose 4.6%, compared with 5.3% in June, Government Statistician Alhassan Iddrisu told reporters in Accra, the capital, on Thursday. The median estimate of three economists in a Bloomberg survey was 5.8%. Prices increased 0.1% in the month from 0.2%.
