Square is a reputable company. They were founded by one of the founders of Twitter and have revolutionized taking credit card payments for small merchants.
I have left reddit for Voat due to years of admin/mod abuse and preferential treatment for certain subreddits and users holding certain political and ideological views.
This account was over five years old, and this site one of my favorites. It has officially started bringing more negativity than positivity into my life.
As an act of protest, I have chosen to redact all the comments I've ever made on reddit, overwriting them with this message.

This seems fishy as hell but it is from Square, which is a relatively trust-worthy company that has been around for a while. I went through with it but haven't received the dollar in my account yet. I guess I'll know if this is bullshit or not in 1-2 business days. I'll either be $1 richer, or a couple thousand poorer.
I love Square. Completely legit deal. I got an email saying I had the free dollar to try it out. Really convenient method. Easier than Western Union for me....and cheaper.
[serious] can someone explain to me why they're doing this? Marketing? Should I be concerned about getting this dollar (I haven't put in my info yet)...
they've done their research and determined that a customer acquisition cost of $1 is cheaper than their perceived customer acquisition cost of more traditional marketing strategies (ads/commercials/etc).

Ah, bummer. I already have a square account. Won't send me a dollar.
I will say - this service does work. You can effectively email people money, and it comes across as a debit card transaction.
Weird, I have an account and still got a dollar.
Is it me, or does this seem fishy?
More like Phishy in this case

If you would like to do the same, install TamperMonkey for Chrome, GreaseMonkey for Firefox, NinjaKit for Safari, Violent Monkey for Opera, or AdGuard for Internet Explorer (in Advanced Mode), then add this GreaseMonkey script.

I feel bad knowing this... but you can put your email in multiple times and they will keep giving you a dollar... http://i.imgur.com/MU2zCVl.png
we have new millionaire on reddit!
I'd rather just find a dollar in change on my floor/under my couch.
But then you could have TWO dollars.
tried it, said my card (VISA) wasnt supported.
Visa?
Never heard of it
Who do you bank with?
Worked for me. I used my paypal debit card so it goes to paypal and not directly to my bank.
USA only, sadly. Requires a zip code for the credit card and won't accept a postal code.
I got a dollar, I got a dollar, I got a dollar hey hey hey.... HEY WHERE'D ALL MY MONEY GO!?!

Did this work for people? I'm sitting on that CVV screen, nervous to hit the button.

I love Square Cash. I've been using it for months. It works flawlessly!
Dammit. I don't have a bank account.
If it's real, it seems to nice of them and I don't want to take a 1 dollar I don't need.
If its fake I don't want them to steal my identity. I'll just leave it.
"Hey, we need a market research study that says how easy it is to get someone's debit card information, we'll pay you $1,000,000 for the results."
A little while later, back at the office...
"Hey guys, lets see how many idiots give us their info for $1 in a weeks time."

I'm surprised nobody's said it yet.

Gee, will it help them get the cash out of Nigeria?
