I've been missing chatting in stream with everyone, but I hope RT has a good rest and comes back with a sense of how much he can manage sustainably. As a person with chronic illness I don't wish for good health, but for good days and bad days with manageable symptoms. I hope for lots of naps and sleeping in, lots of water, and to take my medications everyday. In the meantime when my body allows, I'll be doing crafts and catching up on old videos.

Here is why I think the ending fits for John, despite how it goes. The story reinforces these two points... First is "Our time is over." and all the targets John goes after still tries to live the outlaw life despite the wild west era is dead and the last major gang is ended within ten years after this game. John accepts his time is over and tries to move on to become a better person... And this leads to the second point. "No matter how we change, our past always catches up." No matter what you do, in life there is no redemption for old sinners. In the final scene with John, he accepts this and just want his family to have the life he can't.

oh dang, I was gonna say I really hope RT does Undead Nightmare soon but just found out hes taking a prolonged break and this will be the last video for a long while. I hope everything will be alright for him, hes able to get a good long rest, and that he will be back one day when his health has recovered. It is a shame... My favorite part of this video was the part where RT says "I'm sorry horses" while he is spraying bullets from the gatling gun. In that exact moment he manages to headshot a guy off the horse without harming it, then as it runs off he whips back and guns it down 🤣🤣🤣

I think most of my favorite games are the ones where you keep learning new things years and years after they were released. I did not know any npcs, let alone West Dickens, could just start pissing randomly. I guess I just never hung around any npcs long enough, or I just never got lucky to see that animation.

Thank you for taking us on this adventure. One of the absolute best stories ever presented in a video game..Perhaps only topped by its sequel, and a handful of other titles.
I'm commenting now to support the channel and watching the video when I'm ready and edit the comment accordingly then. I know it was said on streams many times the this would be the last video for a while and RT's streams and frequent videos have been such a huge bonding experience for me and my daughter. She found the Rhythm Heaven Fever highlights one morning before she had school during a time where she and I navigated the start of a somewhat nasty divorce that I had with her dad. And if anyone has ever gone to family court, you know how soul wrenching that can be. So Dan's streams was like a big thing for us. Dan's content was what got me back into being involved in Twitch and gaming communities again after like 9 or so years during some rough things I lived through. It's kinda hard for me to watch this knowing this is the last video for a while, as weird as that is. It feels so para social and weird to say but sometimes people can help others just by existing, not knowing the impact of how they even help or who. More importantly, I also want RT to discover more about himself and live life for himself outside of the online space like anyone else has the freedom to do. Dan deserves to just Be. We're human beings, not human doings. Dan deserves to know who he is outside of his tight schedule and career just like anyone else. So I hope that RT is having a good long holiday, gets to sleep in as much as he wants, and finds the joy in living. 🙏💖

Ah, finally, a good opportunity to watch someone else play a generational singleplayer game rdr 2 and never experience it on my own, although i had plenty of time and a system that can run it. It's been 7 years since the game's release, and i remember the hype around it vaguely, so i recently thought of playing it, little did i know that Russia Today would bless me instead with a priceless opportunity to save my time and energy by watching a neatly cut walkthrough and calling it a day. Thank you for your precious gift today. (I lk don't feel so good and don't know if the pain would stop ever)
"'Rootin Tootin Game?', nahh. In this game, you're 'Rootin Shootin Game'" - a quote I just thought of.
My great grandfather was in the US military, and he was involved in one of America's interventions in the Mexican Revolution. Though it was later on in the war maybe around the end of World War I or in the early 20s. The target was Pancho Villa. The bandit king of a part of northwest Mexico at the time whose gangs had been doing raids into US border towns. I'm not sure how involved my great grandpa was exactly. I've been told he was in the navy. So maybe he was there on a ship checking the shores to make sure Pancho didn't try to flee by boat. The country really was in absolute shambles with several different factions all vying for power while bandits ran wild with all the troops busy fighting revolutionaries. With the Mexican government so weakened by the war, the "loyalists" were more interested in staying on their good side to benefit themselves, and not for the good of the country. The revolutionaries weren't much better off. They had to take any allies they could get, barely any of them virtuous or altruistic, and a lot of revolutionary groups regressed to banditry when the whole revolution thing wasn't putting food on the table. Which is what happened with Pancho Villa's guys. On top of that, the rebel groups were constantly seizing power, losing it, changing sides, and fighting each other. Allies one day, enemies the next. And of course, other nations influenced the warring factions into doing what they wanted. Notoriously, the German Empire sent a telegram to the de facto government of the time saying they'd have Germany's support if they went to war with the US to reclaim old territory lost in the Mexican-American War. The Brits intercepted this telegram, gave it to the Americans, and Woodrow Wilson decided it was finally time to go kick German ass in 1917. Anyway, John's experience in Mexico was probably how every one of the little pawns in the larger game felt. Trying desperately to get something so simple, but being constantly tossed about for the personal intrigue of those in power. I think the US might've actually supported Pancho Villa at one point for some minor thing we found convenient. It wouldn't surprise me. Then he turned around a few years later, started murdering Americans, so my great grandpa had to leave home for an extended period of time to go help find him. Maybe bombard some ports on behalf of a fruit company. I dunno. A third Red Dead game set in Mexico could easily carry on from the epilogue of this game, which is set in 1914. They could even have the story go on until 1920. That's how wild Mexico was during the Mexican Revolution. The wild west frontier everyone forgot. You think what you see of it in this game is bad, oh boy, that's only a taste.

A lot of trains were probably slower than you expect so outrunning one on horseback is not entirely out of the question. Some might be going only 10 miles an hour if the rails were uncertain / the cargo especially heavy / ect. Keeping up with it long term would be an issue regardless but being able to wheel around in front of the train isn't out of the question! That said most horses in RDR1 are unreasonably fast, likely so the player didn't feel travel was TOO tedious lol

(disclaimer for those who need it stated- this is all taken wildly out of context and is just a joke. except him dragging a woman behind a horse. )

Powerful game. Was one of the first game endings that made me cry. The saddest part is you can see it a mile away when you pay attention, that his past would eventually catch up to him. As Dutch himself put it: "when I'm gone, they'll just find another monster". And despite everything John did to reform and give his son a life free from crime, revenge was the only thing Jack had left by the end.

I was fine in every other race (except wagon races) but I got stuck on this stupid race and unironically had to do it 30 times during a playthrough when I was 11. I usually don't mind any amount of goofing around from Dan, but by the end of this playthrough it was genuinely infuriating to see him fail EVERY damn sidequest because he refused to stop and read the objective, usually one line, for 0.5 seconds before shooting the first npc in his line of sight.

Since RDR2 is a prequel, it was a bit of a missed opportunity to not have played that first. I honestly thought he was joking when he didn't seem to know the character's name was John Marston, but he didn't know Dutch either, so this is clearly completely blind.

I replayed it for the third time recently and I remembered it so much more fondly than it actually is lmao. I very much do not recommend trying to 100% the achievements. I managed, but it was such a fucking slog with a horrendous amount of glitches to contend with, some that will completely destroy hours of play time. Anyway, great to see RT playing it!

This playthrough is up there with the Minecraft Survival series for me, it has everything I love about RT. He’s a jokester and a rootin’ tootin’ gamer but beyond the silliness he pays attention to the story and the themes, putting that English degree to good work. He gives the game the attention and thought it deserves while also being an absolute goof of a John Cowboy. Enjoy your break Dan, and maybe we can enjoy the beast of a prequel a year or so down the line!

I feel like the logic of Rockstar law enforcement system got worse overtime. In the GTA 3D titles, the law would eventually call the army to put you down because there are only so many beat cops and SWAT teams you can call upon to fight a man in a literal tank. RDR1 has my personal favorite because there's a finite number of police on standby in a rundown trading outpost or frontier town, meaning that instead of asking "how long can I last?", you can ask "Can I win?". I don't know why they changed that in RDR2. It kills a lot of the western vibe a Red Dead Redemption game should have.
I want to warn you, Dan. If you ever play Red Dead Redeption 2, the epilogue chapters were not exactly put together the best due to some last minute design decisions, from what I gather, and contradict a few things established in this game. It's not awfully so, by any means, but just be aware it can cause a bit of confusion. There are some slight inconsistencies in the main chapters, but those are mostly explainable or easily waved off.
