It’s ridiculous to refer categorically to October 7th as a war crime
- there is no doubt that - let’s not mince words - unjustifiable violence against noncombatants occurred. But history must absolve al-Aqsa Flood just as it has the Warsaw Getto Uprising, Nat Turner’s Rebellion, and the Haitian Revolution.I use the term noncombatants rather than civilians because Israel arms its civilians, especially those near Gaza and West Bank settlers, and if someone points a gun at you, you are justified in shooting first.
- Of course it’s a war crime. Israel fired on their own civilians and blamed it on the enemy. There’s definitely something in the Geneva conventions banning that.
