In order to fulfill his lifelong wish and graduation project of researching merfolks, Desharow, a student of Biology Department of Russian Maritime Academy, went on a long distance voyage with his mentor, Rhine, and caught a special species of male Merfolk in Iceland. Little did he know that this mysterious dark and evil creature had long since regarded him as his “prey” (cough cough spouse) and had been invading his body, leading to an unexpected trigger to a thrilling conflict.
In the end, can the merman’s instinctive desire prevail or not, and whether the research of Desharow can proceed smoothly under the obstruction of his mentor with the same misguided idea? What is the real purpose of the investigation that seemed to be hidden in the presence of military forces when a terrifying conspiracy dating back to World War II began to emerge….?

Just wanna say i finished this entire novel in less than a day, literally dedicated to reading this

I should start with saying that even though i love this a lot, it wasnt entirely my cup of tea and i likely wont be it rereading it. One thing i found extremely regrettable was the consistent lack of communication between Desha and Agares. There is slight spoiler ahead:
I didn’t like the one Desha left the issue of his anger towards Agares unresolved near the end of the story. He seems to have acknowledge his rage of Agares not caring about his opinions (not saving Davis his friend), and also the fact that Agares did in fact r*ape him at the start. But while he was mad, they never really talked about it, and Desha seems to have accepted that while they were in ‘cold war’, he always loves Agares, making him think there’s no need to talk about this giant elephant in the room.
Other than this, the entire story was amazing and the plot was very nicely written too. There’s quite a lot of dark topics, and lots of disgusting characters that really made my blood boil. And i really pity our Desha cuz the entire story he was either being/nearly r*aped, or he was deceived by sme he cares about.

You mean forced seduction? Well it’s part force(r@pe) and part pheromones or hormones like ABO but it’s more imprinting, it’s complex, it’s part of the novel plot and all. But please only read this novel if you okay with the r@pe trigger warning. As for gore, it does get a bit detailed at times and but all chapter have content warning tags for everything. It does get gory as it is a war between humans and merfolk so it can be pretty disgusting and scary gore at times so please only read if you comfortable with it. So yeah it’s alll 3, blood fight, scary and disgusting gore.

I remember I tried reading this in the past and got a decent way in, but the MC’s personality rubbed me the wrong way and I couldn’t get past it. But I remember the xxx was actually good and the plot was interesting. Now that many years have passed, imma give this another go!
