It's the middle of Hanukkah, and the young progressive, supposedly antiracist supposedly pro-Palestinian Jew-hate I am seeing every day has crossed from deeply unnerving to straight up terrifying. I haven't said a thing about it, because I have been scared, scared of harassment, scared of doxxing, scared of death threats, but here it goes.
The antisemitism that I am seeing masquerading as pro-Palestinian activism on the Left right now, online, in protests, and on university campuses across the West, is about as anti-racist as burning a fucking cross, and just as terrifying. The lies and the conspiratorial bullshit is old fashioned Jew-hate, of the level and type of which fueled massacres and pogroms, and which underpinned the Holocaust. Every Jew I know is scared. And every person I know acting this way thinks they are so righteous. Every Jew I know has people they thought were friends that they see falling for this, and spreading the most vile hate, and the newest versions of the oldest blood libels, and cheering on the deaths of jewish children.
And I would hazard a guess that many of the people who are spreading that hate, who have a jewish friend who suddenly isn't talking to them, that they may not have noticed yet, thinks that their Jewish friend is one of the good ones, and nothing's going to happen to that Jewish friend because they're only going after the bad ones. Everybody thinks their friend is an exception, until that friend is just another kike, or (((Zionist))), dead in a ditch.
And this outpouring of hatred does nothing to help the Palestinian people, nor is it really meant to. The Palestinians are just a pretext to feel righteous while indulging in some good old fashioned Jew-hate. I am exhausted, and I am scared, and I am so fucking angry.
Am Yisrael Chai!
