the news release they put out considers the pre-Z versions of goku and piccolo to be new characters themselves rather than costumes for early goku/piccolo, so the total number is more like 33 (32 if pseudo super saiyan goku isn't just a single special attack like goku's punch against broly they showed in the same part of the trailer, which it seems to be)

personally i'm more than satisfied from having gotten GT vegeta and new story mode content, i just hope the new stories will actually have some substance to them (especially if it means yamcha can finally join the tournament of power), it's a bit odd cyborg tao is seemingly being excluded when they otherwise have the entire 23rd tournament lineup (not counting hero/kami) though

i haven't played since the second festival, so is it just completely impossible to get any of the previous festival rewards that i've missed? i don't really care about things like the auras since that isn't tracked by the game, but i'm trying to get as much of a complete equipment collection as i can, i'm certain the festival uniforms are permanently unobtainable, but what about anything else that was available that can no longer be obtained, like the costumes and super souls that were glory point rewards?

there's nowhere near enough star coins in this festival to be able to buy everything from the shop either as far as i can tell, and there's no way of knowing if they're even going to be running the event again after this one

not gonna be pulling my hair out over this or anything if i'm just completely out of luck, but i'd like to know for certain if any of these rewards have ever been re-released

Yeah, Future Saga cleaning everything up and having actually decent animations and visual presentation (or at least the best they could do in-engine) outside of the cutscenes definitely felt like a too little, too late situation, because it just shows that they absolutely COULD have been doing that, but they just chose not to until the Future Saga director stepped in

Plus them giving up on customizable partners years ago, with even the announcement of the customization keys being added to the game being the devs saying "we'll only add more keys if we feel like it", makes it feel incredibly half-assed, and I hate that it's that way, especially because the implementation of a lot of the Festival skills locks them to a basically vanilla moveset for the characters that can't be customized (combined with them being totally unable to be used by CaCs without mods)

As much as I love XV2, properly revisiting it for the first time in a while got me thinking
As much as I love XV2, properly revisiting it for the first time in a while got me thinking

There's SO MUCH dead and abandoned content in the game that it kind of shows how messy and scattered the game's development was for basically the entire lifespan of it, since they kept wanting to try new and different things beyond just more characters to keep the game alive

Mentors? Gone, the concept was ditched after Extra Pack 1 when we got Zamasu as a mentor (likely because they wouldn't have wanted to rework Infinite History to account for any new mentors introduced after Extra Pack 2, but still) and outside of the Conton City Tournament, they haven't done anything with them since then

Hero Colosseum? Despite Bulma still loudly advertising it against everyone's wishes, it hasn't been updated in years, not since Hero of Justice Pack 1, so no Beast Gohan or anything new introduced since then

Conton City Radio? A cute little thing, but very quickly abandoned, I'm glad the advertisements for it eventually stopped, at least, unlike the Hero Colosseum, it was starting to get annoying hearing Baby and Caulifla/Kale telling me to check it out despite having already done so

Conton City TV? Honestly I don't think anyone really liked this in the first place and only really cared about it for the artwork distributions, the schedule for when they'd be showing new videos was always annoying to follow, because despite the existence of the news board, I've always had to find any actual information on events from Reddit or other sources because they never actually say what's going on or what's coming soon, and just like everything else, they ended up ditching this too, so it's just a big ugly thing in the sky of the multi lobby

It's the same with Oolong and the Breakers crossover advertisement quests, Xenoverse 2 has long since distanced itself from advertising that game, and Breakers itself is very likely dead (even if they haven't said so yet), so it sticks out like a sore thumb now, almost 4 years later

As comparatively minor as it is to everything else, this is one of the biggest pain points I hope XV3 does something about, or at least doesn't repeat this, because it's almost depressing seeing how many ideas they tried and gave up on because they got bored of it or it didn't work out the way they expected it to, especially because this stuff is all over the city trying to draw attention to them with the map icons, the advertisements, and notification bubbles, while they haven't had anything new to offer in several years now

this whole thing was funny to me because in the lore i was running with my female saiyan CaC already died before the beginning of the game and was revived towards the end (because i imported the halo accessory from my xv1 hero, i just ran with it until i could get her a good pair of glasses and said she was dead untll then)

having her die a second time would have been little more than a minor annoyance, especially since she had the means to stay on earth, but it's in character for fu to want to avoid anything bad happening at all costs, i guess, no matter how small

he was diagnosed with glioblastoma last august and had to get a brain tumor removed, he's been in a nursing facility since february since he needs constant medical care and can't operate independently, but otherwise it sounds like he's living and hanging on

baby vegeta also had a new voice for this DLC it seems? apparently mike mcfarland has brain cancer which i didn't even know about, i hope it was just a scheduling conflict for james marsters and not anything serious like that

well, they can now, at least, they were added as costumes for the custom mentor variants of goku and vegeta

honestly though we shouldn't have had to wait this long for something that's conceptually so simple, especially because all of the new costumes are extremely basic things that should have been options from the beginning, and we're STILL missing a lot of the costume variants the customizable characters have, like how krillin has his namek armor now, but kid gohan doesn't

in their defense, chibi-robo isn't exactly the most clear game when it comes to conveying to the player how to progress the story, mainly because the devs wanted the player to explore the house and figure out what to do on their own so that they can encounter all of the sidequests along the way, they struggled with chulip (a very similar game that shares a lot of the same DNA) when jon and arin played it for similar reasons

there's no way to skip the text outside of purposefully just not reading it, at least, and no way to make it display any faster, either, so it wouldn't be possible to blame the game for not telling them anything in the moments where it does

i'd still like to see them return to do the rest of punch-out wii at some point, i was holding out for that for a few years before accepting they'd never return to it, but i don't think the game is compatible with the show in its current state, both in the way games are handled and the format of the show necessitating longer episodes instead of the 10-15 minute segments we got when they were last playing, it's not a game that would work well for that at all

another comment mentioned this, but they tried playing it relatively early on during the jon era and scrapped the episodes because neither of them were having fun

arin didn't like the game and jon said he was gradually realizing why that was as they were playing, saying neither of them were being funny and it was just quiet and uncomfortable with obvious tension between the two of them, citing the intro and the waterfall climb as just being slow and annoying with nothing really happening

you actually CAN get into his room

if you reset the game and reload your save file after viewing the judgment sequence on a pacifist playthrough and repeat it again, you can get different dialogue where sans suspects you know more than you're letting on and tells you a secret codeword to tell to him if you view the scene again, eventually resulting in sans giving you the key to his room, promising to reveal "the truth". the big reveal is that there's absolutely nothing of interest in sans's room, and he's just pranking you across time and space. but in reality, the actual thing unlocked from this is a key in sans's room that opens up the workshop behind their house, which contains a potential reference or two to deltarune

especially when you have people who have absolutely no interest in dragon ball beyond the ideas they made up about it in their heads being very insistent that abridged is the only true/acceptable/good/etc way to experience the series, and that it's the true dragon ball canon because they think very lowly of the original series

TFS themselves hate this idea, especially since abridged is based entirely on their love for the series, and like half of the jokes fall flat without prior knowledge of dragon ball, but people insist upon it anyway because "the series would be so much better if this joke was canon, so it is to me!"

people have also clung to the fact that abridged didn't create the joke originally, which no, they didn't, but the fact that kaiserneko even regrets how far they took the joke in retrospect and seeing how people have responded to it, it's apparent that it's very deeply tied to the joke and how much it's been spread as absolute fact

as one of the biggest raditz fans out there, this is something that's always bothered me, but at the same time, I've come to accept that it's far too late to really do anything about it at this point

besides the fact that raditz is incredibly weak and couldn't live up to the modern power standards of the series, he's also a pathetic excuse for a saiyan because of how much he goes against their core values (despite hyping himself up as a saiyan constantly), being an absolute coward who isn't above deception and running away from a fight, it'd be really hard to change these aspects about him as a character without just doing a complete 180 on the anti-goku that he was designed to be and turning him into someone else entirely

doesn't really help that fandom misconceptions (the strength of the saibamen compared to him, as an example) would also make it really hard to sell the idea of his return to a lot of people outside of nostalgia pandering towards an audience that couldn't care less about him, he has effectively just been made into a very large joke, with a few of the video games even suggesting bardock might actually hate him

even canonical opportunities to make something more out of him like dragon ball minus and the granolah arc flashbacks largely just ignored him entirely outside of where it was absolutely necessary, it's obvious they want nothing to do with this character anymore both in and out of universe

i mean, that's kind of how things always were, to be fair, the entire saiyan race weren't even in the top 10 of frieza's army

goku and vegeta have always been noted to be absolutely exceptional monsters, with both of them surpassing (almost) anything a saiyan had previously done in-universe in the same arc the saiyans were introduced as a concept, the series has never really done anything to make saiyans as a whole be super powerful outside of pure hype that is never backed up with what actually happens in the story

it's because the edits themselves are much more well known and widespread than how the story was written around them (or ignores them almost entirely afterwards), and the misguided belief in general that 4kids never at any point EVER addresses death as a concept in any of their shows, despite being completely untrue

very few people these days have actually watched the 4kids dub in general so it's easy for these rumors to spread with no one disproving them

first thing i could think of was MGS, but MGS2 specifically

the lore implications of what would happen in-universe after raiden dies in MGS2 are already heavy, but then you have it hammered in by literally hearing rose's panicked gasp and final breath as she dies instantly after calling out for him on the mission failed screen, the patriots were not bluffing over their threats to get raiden to cooperate by holding her life hostage

the bigger issue of blue as it was originally presented was always that the existence of the form almost entirely invalidates the story of the movie and reduces the stakes even further with how safely and securely they're able to just stomp golden frieza as a total repeat of what happened on namek, it also just kind of ignores the whole ordeal of unlocking super saiyan god in the last movie by instantly introducing a new stronger and infinitely superior transformation the next time we see these characters. resurrection of F has an issue of constantly downplaying the idea that anything happening even matters with how any threat or consequential action is instantly negated, and blue was a part of this, especially with vegeta just stepping in completely fresh and just as powerful to beat down frieza after goku gets shot

doesn't help that the forms (and vegeta getting SSG, for that matter) were achieved offscreen and they were the first super saiyan forms to not really have any kind of grand reveal or buildup, it just happens, i used to dislike blue a lot for this reason because it felt like pure marketing bait, which it kind of was, just like the entire movie, but like everyone else who still cared about DB going into super I've gotten used to it by now

this was added specifically in the english translation of the manga done by VIZ with the knowledge that Z would continue the series and run for twice as long as the first portion of the series, the VIZ translation also directly references Z at least once as a joke

the original dialogue says that dragon ball will continue "just a little bit more", but that ended up going on for another 8 years afterwards, either way he definitely never intended to end the series anytime soon at that point, since the timeskip into Z happened literally the next week

to be fair though, the manga and anime versions of super vary heavily on how the specifics of every arc play out, the major plot beats are generally the same but there's HUGE differences between the two of them in how they actually get to those points, and what happens before the next consistent plot point, because of differing interpretations and ideas based on toriyama's notes and plot outlines

there's been arguments that the manga or anime handled specific arcs better or worse than the other because of this, i'd recommend going back and reading through the super manga instead of picking it up where the anime leaves off (assuming you weren't already planning on doing this)

kind of wonder how they'd explain this in-universe, since her whole deal was redistributing yelps's stolen treasure to the needy and less fortunate, selling things at a high premium feels like it'd go against her character

on the other side of things though, i know people just want to kill her as a scapegoat for treasure hunter rather than giving her another functional purpose, but it wouldn't really make any sense at all with the way she was written previously

like i said in another comment, MTX isn't going anywhere, and bonus XP is still going to be obtainable through it, it's just treasure hunter and the lamps/proteans that were obtainable from it that will be removed because they're viewed as damaging to the integrity of the game, this is jagex's own statement on the matter whether or not it's been influenced by the playerbase so they clearly agree to some extent

sorry if you took what i said as "every new player is doing this and playing the game this way", cause that's clearly not the case, and idk if anyone is trying to seriously argue that, but the new player experience is one of the most heavily criticized aspects of RS3 for both new and returning players from OSRS players and people that have never played runescape before in general, the amount of people that are willing to go through it and put the time in to get to "the real game" are a very small minority compared to the people that have tried and quit

one of the major complaints was that treasure hunter effectively encouraged jagex to only focus on late to endgame content for the playerbase because they didn't need to fix the mountains of issues the early to mid game had, since most people were skipping over all of it anyway with the free experience, this left the game in an incredibly alienating state for new players and runescape 3's introductory periods are considered to be one of the worst parts of the game as a whole

even big updates and areas in the game like menaphos are effectively dead content because you can just skip over whatever you'd get in engaging with it by just using lamps on the skills it lets you train there, fast tracking yourself to unlocking prif is basically priority number 1, despite being a late stage area in the game that has a lot of skill and quest requirements behind it, simply because there isn't much incentive to do skilling anywhere else in the game for the most part, it's the same for bossing because there basically are no entry level bosses that are worth fighting for a new player like OSRS has

with the absence of treasure hunter now, a lot of people are hoping that jagex will finally address this issue with the game in a way that actually encourages new players to *play the game*, since there's not going to be an easy way to skip past it all anymore

it's an initiative from jagex to, as they claim, improve the game by admitting treasure hunter has caused substantial damage to the game's integrity for allowing people to pay for experience lamps or free resources like proteans to accelerate progress through the game, and taking a revenue hit to try and do better in the future and fix some of the core issues people have with RS3. microtransactions as a whole are NOT being removed, they're being reworked to potentially be more "ethical" in how they're incorporated into the game, but treasure hunter and the gambling aspects of it are being removed entirely

right now we're still waiting to see what they're actually going to do to fill the void that's going to be left by treasure hunter's removal

for RS3 specifically, there's 137 worlds, however some of these worlds are locked behind either skill requirements or premier membership, there's 132 freely accessible worlds for members

each world can contain 1500 players, making for a total of a theoretical maximum of 205,500 simultaneous players online in RS3 across all 137 worlds, or 198,000 for all members in general, the likelihood of this actually happening currently is zero but feels like a good incentive to look into hosting new servers in the future if the player numbers will actually increase

i will always remember how after the pilot some people were totally convinced that this was just going to be a factor in future episodes if the show got picked up and that they'd have to make pim happy again

i'm really glad the show doesn't work that way

especially since this'd be basically punishing people that didn't contribute in any way to the current state of the game's economy for no real benefit, there's no good way to spin the idea of forcefully deleting the entire game's history to try and "fix" it

they haven't said the exact specifics of what's going to happen to the items being removed from sale yet, but they did say that there will be a grace period before the changes go into effect for people to use their items before they're deleted from the game or converted into something else

all proteans are listed as being part of the affected items, so they will be affected by this in some way, we just don't know how yet, whether they'll be nuked from banks or converted into a different item

I refused to engage with Attack on Titan during the debut era of the anime because I got irrationally annoyed over seeing it everywhere on Tumblr, and having it be recommended to me by everyone I knew at the time, and I've maintained this decision ever since, ended up doing the same thing for MHA later

I also got SUPER mad back in 2015 when The Witcher 4, a game I'd never even heard of at the time, basically sweeped the Game Awards which left me feeling like Undertale and MGSV got snubbed, and refused to engage with it afterwards

almost all of their post-original series revival attempts have been post-9/11, so i don't think hasbro sees it that way, oddly enough, they're more confident in it than a lot of their other IPs

i remember they capitalized on the ninjas even harder with them effectively being the face of the franchise during the 2000s run, that's how i remember it growing up, at least

basically any hasbro property in the last 30 years that isn't transformers or my little pony, they clearly want to capitalize on their other brands with how many times they've tried to revive GI joe, as one example, but literally nobody is having it and it always fails until it's time to try again in the new decade, even transformers and MLP are largely coasting on nostalgia pandering for when both of them were at their most culturally relevant, because that seems to be all hasbro is good for now

yakuza/like a dragon was also very much this pre-0, even sega was ready to give up on it because the games weren't selling, even with dead souls having been made specifically for western audiences, and sony had to push for the localization for 5 themselves because of how catastrophically that game failed

absolutely, honestly i would always build up a backlog of his LPs to watch after they concluded, but after the super mario 64 DS LP i fell off from his channel completely, i always said i'd go back and watch his stuff again because he was playing a lot of games that interested me over the years, but i never actually did

seeing kingdom hearts be announced as his next LP is what finally brought me back after all this time

if he could have done this, he would have, the passing of the torch mindset that goku had in the buu saga wasn't a factor here at all, he didn't surrender because he wanted to make gohan into his successor as the earth's savior, he quit because he knew he had absolutely no chance of defeating cell and that gohan was the only one who could pull it off

goku went all out and gave it everything he had, and cell outlasted him even with him heavily holding back his true power, goku never could have defeated him

i forget how you're supposed to get the ending exactly, but professor oak tells you that it's time to release pikachu back into the wild, and you say goodbye to it, leaving it in the forest where you first found it to go back to the other wild pikachu as it sadly waves goodbye to you

but in the end, after the credits, it comes back to you, and the game continues endlessly from there

people don't really acknowledge that frieza was literally millions of times stronger than goku's starting point when he finally got off of his ass and trained, the power gains frieza got has always made sense to me because of that, and the exact same thing could have been done for cell and buu (and technically was done with uub, especially with the idea goku is still interested in him even with how strong he's gotten in super)

i remember arin saying once that art was never his passion and that he always wanted to be a voice actor, and that's why he left it behind completely on his own terms, but i think the stress and pressure of how many unfinished projects he had building up for years got to him, especially because of how poorly received the zelda sequelitis and pokeawesome 2 ended up being when they finally released

honestly if he really felt like it, he could probably return to making art whenever he wanted to, i feel, GG and his other business ventures are making enough money now compared to before that he'd be free to do basically whatever he wants on the side and ensure the bills are still being paid, i know people would welcome it and encourage him to

poor voice direction is the most likely culprit

you have to keep in mind, these games aren't ever made with the English dub in mind, localization and dubbing is one of the very last things they do for these games during development, and the stories we've gotten (especially from riku's VA because he's been playing through KH1 for the first time recently on his twitch channel) paint a pretty clear picture of how the dubs are made

david gallagher is an example, because again, we've heard this directly from him, the english VA work is done individually and most of the time they're called in completely separately at different times, so they don't have any interactions with each other for the most part, most of the VAs also know absolutely nothing about KH from being given no context to what's going on when they're reading their lines (outside of things like intended emotion), and not having actually played the games for themselves to keep up with the lore and how they "should" sound in specific scenes

it's entirely possible that there was just something more going on behind the scenes while KH3 was in development, like faulty equipment, poor studio conditions, etc, especially for re:mind because of the pandemic making it difficult/impossible to come into the studio to do VA work in person, but we're not likely to know

yup, been happening for me as well, and of course youtube magically starts working again as soon as i disable it

  1. most of the disney worlds serve absolutely no purpose to the game's narrative even with the attempts to tie the organization to them, ironically it's very similar to what people criticize KH3 for, but KH2's worlds are also significantly shorter and max out at about 40-60 minutes of playtime even with their stories having been split into two parts, which isn't helped by the world design and layouts in general being very poor for the most part.

the worst offenders of this are land of dragons and the pride lands, where they're mostly completely vanilla retellings of the plots of the movie, and the organization's role in both worlds is minimal to nonexistent, with land of dragons 2 on particular having a playtime of only around 10-15 minutes because of how little actually happens during the revisit. this is a similar problem agrabah and halloween town have where there wasn't really a reason to have them in this game besides just being recognizable worlds from the first game (even though both worlds were completely redesigned solely for this game), given their complete irrelevance to the story, and while their stories are technically at least partially original, they're really just rehashing and adapting the rest of the nightmare before christmas and aladdin 2 for the most part

2. the organization's implementation is also very wasted, you very quickly sweep through and kill the remaining members once you reach the world that never was, and most of them don't really get any time to stand out or do anything particularly memorable because of a common trait they all share, a near complete lack of screentime, something final mix had to turn around and try to fix with the new cutscenes

luxord and xigbar needed entire other games to expand on their characters more, and xaldin is the only one of them (besides saix) that actually feels like he's doing his job because of him being a consistent presence in both visits of beast's castle, rather than only appearing in the second visit to a world like the others, i'd include demyx in here as well but he at least makes the most of his minimal screentime, and his boss fight is one of the most iconic in the game

3. pete is one of my favorite parts of KH2's early game, just because he's my favorite disney character, but he didn't need to appear again after disney castle and timeless river, his presence in port royal and pride lands are mostly completely pointless because the story doesn't require him to be there at all, and despite his efforts to try and free jafar from the lamp in agrabah, a random unspecified member of the organization somehow managed to do it offscreen

4. vanilla KH2's combat is flashy, but poor, and the game in general is extremely easy with no real incentive to engage with mechanics like drive forms, growth abilities, magic, or summons, even on proud mode, yet another criticism that was more recently applied to KH3 replaying the game for the first time in forever with the knowledge I gained from years of experience with critical mode made it an absolute cakewalk, the game mostly gets the praise it does for its combat mechanics because of the improvements final mix made and actually incentivizing you to do more than mash X and press triangle, funny enough I actually remember a time where people vastly preferred the combat in the first game because of how "brainless" KH2 was viewed as in comparison

also this is more of a very personal gripe because I've 100% completed the game three times this year, but I HATE the gummi ship missions (not the gummi ship gameplay itself, I'm talking about the actual optional missions, particularly getting the treasures), it's such a tedious task even with a donut ship, especially with the EX missions in final mix forcing you to use specific builds

Not really because it's funny or anything, but "Aqua... Ven... One day I will set this right." and its follow-up in KH3 will always stick out to me for being such a good moment for Terra's character, and being one of the few moments in BBS where Jason Dohring knocks it out of the park with his voice acting

honestly i still think it'll happen just so they can say "we released something KH related this year", similar to what they've done four times now already, the xbox version of 1.5+2.5, the original PC release on EGS, the switch's cloud versions of the series, and the steam release were part of, or all of, our "content" for 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2024

it would significantly ruin the impact of having riku as a party member if he died as easily as the other ones do, plus as was mentioned in other comments, he has special immunity during the final xemnas fight because of the part where you can play as him, otherwise he'll always stay alive at 1 HP

riku, auron, and simba also have their cure abilities only take 99 MP instead of everything they have, so they're able to use it twice before going into MP charge

we don't know how specifically mickey was able to reach sora in his heart, or how he knew to contact sora specifically, unless it's just something like "he sensed he was a potential keyblade wielder", but he did the same thing for riku when his heart was banished to the realm of darkness, so it's apparently just something he's capable of doing when he feels like it, same with the weird astral projection thing he does in chain of memories and nowhere else

mickey is weirdly omniscient in the earlier games which doesn't seem to have carried over into KH2 and onwards where he has more of an active presence, outside of where it's required in 0.2 for the sake of consistency

you can just make a new character with a new email address, or if you have a jagex account with the jagex launcher, you can make up to 20 characters using the same email address

just be aware that characters under a jagex account do not share progress or membership with each other, you will start from the beginning of the game every time you make a new character, it's just for being able to easily switch between them

as of right now, no, there is not an option to have membership apply to multiple characters, you are expected to pay for an individual membership for every character you create, and that's how it's been since membership was initially released

they did float around the idea of having a membership option that applies to multiple characters when they were surveying responses to potential changes in membership's price and options at the beginning of this year, but i'm pretty sure all of those proposals have been almost completely thrown out now because of the massive negative backlash towards jagex suggesting things like "enhanced player support" and better account security options being locked behind a paywall, and in-game advertisements being a thing

because of how heavily utilized alternate accounts are for both RS3 and OSRS, and jagex accounts literally letting you tie multiple characters to one account, i wouldn't be surprised if it comes back up again, but unless something changes behind the scenes it'll probably come with yet another base membership price increase

i don't think the game is in a healthy enough state to consider RS4 right now, honestly, like I can see these experiments being a pathway to it, similar to how RSHD and EoC was an intermediary between RS2 and 3, but there's a lot of issues they need to tackle with the current game and player retention before they can realistically do RS4 and not have it fail at launch

this is correct, square cannot use KH characters without disney's approval, but disney is allowed to do anything they want with KH without having to involve square (although they still respect nomura and his wishes in some instances, like how he was unsure about sora in smash bros, and cancelling the KH animated series from 2003 so there was no clashing with the games)

Honestly that's the worst thing about it cause I've never had anything like this happen to me ordering from this store before, at worst they'll just forget an item and even that's only happened twice

And the other wrap and the two sandwiches I got with this were all fine

because he was from a game no one played or enjoyed, and for the most part they were prioritizing classic crash characters that weren't already in the original game and popular fan requests when considering who to add to the game

but even crash on the run included mr. crumb for some reason, i'm sure viscount would have been added to CTRNF eventually if the game kept being supported

she's definitely the weakest link out of rare's DK characters, she wasn't in any of the DKC games besides the first one, her dialogue in DK64 is just nonstop sex jokes and innuendo, and she's not playable in any of the spinoff games when even characters like wrinkly kong are, nothing would really be lost if they got rid of her just because of how little purpose she served

Someone is clearly giving Kris orders besides us, though, we can visibly see this in Chapter 4 with whoever is on the phone commanding them to not let Susie get the code

It's also suggested in that same scene that Kris does not have a soul outside of us, which would make him an incredibly exceptional human for being able to live and "function" without one

Damn you're right, I didn't even see the phone until looking back at the scene again now, just when Kris's body grabbed it later

Still though, everything about it seems odd in how Kris behaves "on their own", and I'm not sure if it's actually them in control of their actions without the soul

Who is in control? (Chapter 4 spoiler)
Who is in control? (Chapter 4 spoiler)
Who is in control? (Chapter 4 spoiler)

So this may potentially be a stupid question that ends up getting answered later on, but and I'm content with getting a spoiler if needed cause it's been keeping me up for a few hours and I haven't gone back to the game yet, and I just kind of wanted to speak my mind while I'm still thinking about it

So partway through Chapter 4, we see Kris rip their soul out of their body again, trying to imprison it while trying to keep Susie from learning one of the codes to the bunker that's on Dess's guitar. While you're able to control the soul though, you have the opportunity to spy on Kris in the kitchen while going through the vents, and listen to some interesting dialogue from them.

The most notable thing to me is that Kris refers to themselves in the third person, almost as if they're a completely different person, while also commenting that they NEED the soul to be able to enter the Dark World in the first place, which is the entire reason the body tolerates their presence and why we never see this happen outside of the Light World.

But doesn't that imply that there ISN'T another soul in Kris's body fighting for dominance, like people theorized from as far back as Chapter 1? Kris's body's dialogue is also spoken incredibly unnaturally, with a notably darkness-styled speech bubble, and doesn't speak like any human would, speaking slowly and in incomplete sentences. We have seen some signs that Kris shows free will and personality beyond the player's control (mainly reacting angrily to certain things, or being implied to have been terribly shook by what happened with Spamton NEO), but at the same time, something feels incredibly off about Kris's body and the way they behave on their own, especially now that we've actually seen them speak, and quite a bit as well.

Again, this could just as easily be disproven from me just playing the game more, and I'm welcome to being proven wrong cause this is just me sharing my thoughts based on an incomplete experience, but I really don't think whatever has been fighting against us this entire time is actually meant to be Kris themselves, or even human in the first place, given their noted lack of soul outside of us.

No human or monster is known in-universe to have ever existed without a soul, and whatever is controlling Kris's body doesn't show any signs of not being able to live without the soul, just that it's a hinderance to their plans in being unable to access the dark world without it and the soul constantly sealing the fountains it's trying to open or trying to make the body perform actions it doesn't agree with, like discovering the code. Kris's body is also VERY persistent in trying to prevent anyone from discovering the soul while it's outside of their body, physically assaulting it and locking it back up whenever you're caught by the body (although they don't make any effort to hide it while walking right past Noelle and Susie, displaying it in their hands, although it could just be because they know they're not paying any attention to them)

Whatever it is, SOMETHING is controlling Kris, and it doesn't seem to be Chara like people thought either, despite the original implications in Chapter 1. It has no soul, and it doesn't seem to be any kind of human either, and they are VERY irritated by our constant interference in opening the fountains and trying to discover what's in the bunker, suggesting they're tied heavily to the Knight, who Susie (might have) seen drag Undyne in there

i can personally confirm this to be the case

i foolishly tried beating the fight a few times with the shadow mantle before viewing the credits, and i had to keep restarting the game to reload my save file because losing would just play the normal ending cutscene

i wasn't allowed to retry the fight upon dying until after viewing the credits and returning to my save before the boss fight

I watched that playthrough for the first time a while back, and it's one of the best examples of something I found incredibly infuriating about the Jon era, and it's basically every time they get into a "game design" discussion, there was like an entire episode that got derailed by it but thankfully they went back to business as usual immediately afterwards, it was the whole "I think you should analyze everything" discussion where Jon just wanted to enjoy Kirby for what it was rather than trying to find a deeper artistic meaning or "purpose" to it, and both of them complaining that Magolor detracts from the game because he interrupts the gameplay with his story and presence whenever you complete a world

Whenever there was a disagreement regarding game design, it's easy to get the impression that Arin comes off too strongly with his opinions to where Jon just kind of gives up on his own point and says "well yeah maybe you're right actually", especially because this was the beginning of the "games are art actually" indie era and Arin loved acting like he knew objectively what makes a game good because he watched Jonathan Blow or someone else talk about it and discrediting whatever went against that or his own personal tastes

Potentially licensing issues because Square doesn't actually own the character, Disney does, so they don't have the freedom to keep it available forever, none of the KH crossovers that were in Final Fantasy Brave Exvius ever returned after their availability period before the game was shut down either

some of these screenshots kind of reinforce my thinking that there was a very good reason SE's been silent on the game's development, that it's still too soon to really show anything off, especially since nomura himself admitted the game was revealed very early in development to avoid leaks, and that we shouldn't expect any news for a while because of that

i feel like we're still a ways off from getting the proper showcase people have been demanding, much less any release window, as disappointing as i'm sure that is to imagine that we have to wait even longer for any "proper" news on the future of KH

I feel like Aqua's own interpretation of events (which Maleficent lied to Ven about, and she managed to overhear it) is what people remember happening for some reason, especially since she hammers it in that she's supposedly "seen what Terra's done" in the worlds they've been to when he didn't actually do anything, he barely even interacted with most of the cast of characters up to that point, and his direct actions involve protecting Cinderella from the Unversed, and attempting to do the same for Snow White but scaring her off instead

Pretty much just taking the best from Ultimate Tenkaichi too, then, that game had an original story with your created character while also featuring an adaptation of the canon story alongside it as a separate mode, rather than mashing the two together like Xenoverse does

That game also had transforming hair and animated tails, amazingly, although it was likely because it was an impossible to remove feature of the created characters rather than an accessory, and all characters were Saiyans that obtained Super Saiyan as part of the story

seconding this one, when i was going through the franchise a couple years ago with some friends, they had heavily hyped up RPM as the greatest PR series (mainly because they grew up watching it and I didn't, but also because of the general sentiment the community has towards it), i didn't really think it was anything super spectacular like people made it out to be and it's not even in my top 5

honestly yeah, people give them way too much credit for issues they could have completely avoided, toei's lack of care for legacy content is universally consistent for all of their properties because they know people are just going to buy it anyway and are too prideful to allow fans to do the work for them

allegedly fans tried to submit restored versions of the broadcast audio that they had spent a lot of time putting together to toei for dragon ball z to fix the decades long issue of extremely poor audio quality in the home releases, all because toei threw out the original audio masters, only for toei to turn them away, as just one example

It's funny cause despite being far too young to have experienced most of PR pre-Wild Force as it was airing, owning this game as a kid made me just as confused as everyone else must have been back then, I never understood why King Sphinx was so prominently featured above the villain characters I actually recognized from the VHS tapes I had

Plus the finale of this entire thing is Ichiban getting his ass kicked for "cheating" on the women who assaulted him because of Chitose immediately jumping to conclusions based on nothing, only for her to go "oh whoops sorry about that" after he's beaten within an inch of his life, it's absolutely horrible

The funny thing is that he did have plans for more, he was talking about that upcoming Zelda video even back when Game Grumps started, and he discussed wanting to do one for Metal Gear Solid and iirc Resident Evil as well, the Zelda Sequelitis was even so important to him that he was hesitant about playing Ocarina of Time with Jon while he was still working on it

I guess the development hell of the video, its reception, and his general shift in mentality towards what he wanted to do on Youtube by the time it actually released did a major number on his plans, I can't imagine the Metal Gear one got very far either since he'd also said he was never that big of a fan of the series

That's my bad, my memory of it wasn't too good and I edited my post a few times to reflect that. Still, it is kind of a big change to go from "show's over" to "never mind, let's keep going", especially since that was the catalyst for everything that came after, we probably never would have gotten a "Zordon Era" continuous storyline if the show ended there, it might have just been mostly standalone seasons if they chose to continue adapting Sentai

This is probably reasonably well known, but Doomsday, episodes 39 and 40 of Season 1, was originally intended to be the full-on ending of MMPR (and potentially Power Rangers as a whole, depending on how the series was received), similar to how Zyuranger ended, with the introduction of Rita's son (potentially, this is unclear in what we know about the episode as it was written originally) piloting Cyclopsus, and the team potentially giving up their powers once Rita was defeated and sealed away. But because the show was an unexpected massive hit, the episode was rewritten heavily so that the show could continue, leading to Saban commissioning the Zyu2 footage from Toei so that they could make more episodes of MMPR, having almost fully exhausted scenes from Zyuranger now that they had reached the point where that show ended.

Supposedly they even wanted to fly out Machiko Soga to America to shoot footage with the American Power Rangers actors for the originally intended finale, which would have been pretty cool, since they were unable to do that beforehand due to the obvious complications

That was directly stated by Nomura, that the game was revealed extremely early into development to avoid the game's existence being spoiled by leaks, and that we shouldn't expect any news about the game for a while.

I know that was said back in 2022, but I still feel like people are getting too far ahead of themselves in believing we'll get a proper game showcase and release date any day now, especially since we still haven't heard anything about Missing Link.

His journal entry in KH2 (and Re:coded) outright say he's a "SOLDIER", but similar to how it also mentions that Sephiroth was "once revered as a hero", it's hard to say what's meant to be canonical to KH and what's just fanservice (even if they got it wrong)

There's a lot of conflicting information about these characters in KH, honestly, Sephiroth's journal entry suggests that he used to be a hero, similar to his role in FF7, but at the same time we're also meant to believe that Sephiroth is just a physical manifestation of Cloud's darkness. Similarly, SOLDIER is referenced in Cloud's journal entry, despite the events of FF7 being a complete impossibility to have happened in the KH universe

I don't think there's any real way to make perfect sense of the information we're presented with for all three of these characters

There's pretty much the entire Steam Train backlog, with Dan playing PC games with Ross and other people, at least until Arin had to take over Dan's spot due to scheduling problems and potential burnout.

Dan also played through multiple old point and click games (Space Quest, King's Quest) by himself a long time ago, back when they experimented with doing solo episodes for both Dan and Arin

The most frustrating thing about this game to me is that it contains a lot of original lore they made up specifically for this game, with the entire back end of the game being centered around it... And then the game just ends abruptly with no real conclusion, since the actual storyline of the series was interrupted by said arc. And despite the obvious sequel hooks that were set up to continue the story, because this game never got a sequel, absolutely none of it is followed up on, so none of the questions proposed in this game (mainly everything surrounding the "Great Observer, Lantis", who Shikoutei and Shaco are both tied to and reference) are ever referenced in any other SK media, because it was never canon in the first place.

Doesn't help that where the canon storyline ends in this game is also extremely unsatisfying, just stopping immediately before the first round of the Shaman Tournament. They even put Hao in the ending as a teaser, and let you obtain the Spirit of Fire as a secret Spirit, so it makes me wonder if they actually had more planned for a sequel, and it just didn't get greenlit.

How many times did you get the typical bot response back from them? I just got a reply back saying they "reviewed" my case and insist they're still right from the bearded guy "Trust and Safety" account, so I'm still trying to push for being unbanned

Discord historically operates on a "guilty by association" thing where the reporter is banned alongside the person who actually violated the ToS, this has been a known issue for years and they've done absolutely nothing to resolve it. You can even report a server, leave the server, and still be caught in the banwave because as far as Discord is concerned, you were in the server and you're guilty too.

It just goes to show how terrible their system is that it doesn't function at all, it never really has, and it's just been getting progressively worse with time.

They will try, apparently, but I'm not sure if it actually does anything in the end.

What I remember reading when filing a complaint this morning was that they said that they're not actually obligated to force Discord to do anything, just to try and reach a mutual agreement between the user and the company, and that the company is entirely within their right to refuse what is being requested of them. It does, in theory, reduce their score if they refuse to cooperate, which makes them look worse in terms of consumer trust and satisfaction, but ultimately that doesn't amount to anything currently, they're still sitting at an A+.

You can see on their complaint page for Discord that they're still being fed the same bot responses we've been getting this entire time, and there isn't much they're doing (or are required to do) to prevent it.

Do you mean wait a few days between sending new support tickets? Or does this also include replying to the automated messages from Clyde to keep tickets open?

A friend of mine got their original account banned years ago due to a false report from an actual pedophile who was pissed about having been exposed, sucks that people have been able to abuse the system for basically forever now, and that the people who are actually committing crimes on the platform tend to go completely unpunished.

I guess if that's the case, all I can really do is keep waiting (and hoping) for the review request to go through and actually be checked by a human, and try to not have my support ticket be closed by them with no help.

Thankfully I'm not in a huge rush, since I don't want to get my account into more trouble over ban evasion, and people have other methods of contacting me if needed, but I know it's an annoyance to my friends to have to wait however long it'll take for me to be able to come back, since Discord is their main platform and they have no interest in moving elsewhere for the time being. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that I can get some kind of resolution to this in a timely manner, cause I don't want to have to potentially have to wait the 6 month period for any restrictions to be lifted.

So what exactly is the "preferred" method to get in touch with a human through Discord's support system?
So what exactly is the "preferred" method to get in touch with a human through Discord's support system?

I was falsely banned at the end of February, and much like basically everyone else on this subreddit, my initial appeals were instantly rejected by Clyde with the usual stock response. No evidence of any actual wrongdoing was given, with no mention of any content having been deleted, or what specifically was flagged (how exactly are people able to tell what post Discord is complaining about? I've seen mentions of posts from hundreds of days ago being flagged, but where are they able to see that?)

I waited around 3 weeks before making another appeal a couple of days ago, through the "request a review" feature in the app, and haven't gotten a response back yet after 48 hours. Now I'm trying to appeal through their support section on the website again, and I'm not really sure what it's suggested I should do to avoid the requests being automatically closed and ignored. It took them around 7 hours for Clyde to respond this time, as opposed to basically instantly like before, so I don't know if even their "automated" system is clogged currently because of all the requests and tickets I'm sure they're getting right now. Either way, I want to be sure this issue is resolved, even if it comes down to just getting incredibly lucky, and I'd appreciate some suggestions on the actions I should take.

There are three main things that Stitch does:

  1. He will automatically block and deflect all projectile attacks targeting Sora, this includes things like falling rocks in Olympus

  2. When you're low on HP, and sometimes just randomly, Stitch will play his ukulele, stunning all enemies and making them drop HP orbs while slowly regenerating your HP

  3. Stitch will completely refill your MP bar for free, and can do this an infinite number of times until the summon ends

He's basically more of a support summon than an offensive one, and he gives you basically infinite magic for as long as he's out. Combined with him automatically deflecting projectiles, you can generally keep Sora completely safe to do whatever you want as long as Stitch is out

i've been searching for these games for a while, and asked something similar on this subreddit. as far as I can tell from the research i've done, the games were never sold individually and were primarily sold through mail order, so they likely weren't available in stores, that's probably why they never seem to be available for sale anywhere.

it's very irritating how little information there is about these games, you can't even definitively find out how many of them were made

i did find one of the type to learn games that was released under the sunbuddies brand a while back, at least, one that's currently undumped online (and I still need to get around to it), the best advice I can give is to watch sites like ebay for anyone selling discs. i wish you good luck in finding something if i'm not able to, hopefully someone that has these games will come around and dump them online for us, since the requests i've seen on youtube uploads seem to have been mostly ignored

this happens pretty often in metal gear, ironically amanda and cecile got off better than meryl did between MGS1 and 2, where the previous game's ending was mostly ignored, especially because of V at least acknowledging what happened to them in-between peace walker and GZ. both of them are pretty conclusively written out in GZ's backstory tapes, and amanda is mentioned again a couple of times in TPP.

amanda was intended to return to mother base after the inspection once she finished her current assignment in cuba, which obviously couldn't happen, and cecile was sent home because there was no reason for her to stay. there wasn't really a reason for diamond dogs to link back up with amanda after the attack either, since there was no demand for a PMC in the region. outside of that, she was the one who helped strangelove retrieve the AI pod from lake nicaragua, and would have been the one that requests for you to kill chico when he's spotted in africa, if that side op didn't end up getting cut from the game.

cecile was also based on a real person who no longer worked at konami, so it may have been an issue to continue using the character with her likeness and name

she fulfilled the purpose she needed to of representing the medic's lingering desire for revenge and memories he couldn't let go of, beyond that, there isn't really more that could have been done with her after her betrayal and defeat in peace walker.

they were also smart in remembering she's the only person that's directly interacted with zero in years, and having skull face use that to his advantage to find him. he's lucky paz didn't die or else his plan never would have worked the way he wanted it to, at least in terms of getting his revenge against zero

late response, but yes, this is known to be the case, nomura stated it in an interview in the KH3 ultimania

“In order to change those [properties] into a game, contracts must be made with each company separately, and there are cases where other game companies already have contracts, so although the Disney Group has indeed added those [properties], incorporating them into KH isn’t so simple,” said Nomura. “That’s also the reason Mickey is in only one scene in KH1. At the same time, another company was releasing a game that had to do with Mickey, so though we were denied his usage, we persisted and eventually got ‘as long as you only have one scene, from far away, as a silhouette, with him waving his hand or something’. Since we had to make the best of the biggest [and only] chance we had, that’s why that scene appears that way.”

am i missing something somehow, or does shadow generations on PC not support playstation controllers?
am i missing something somehow, or does shadow generations on PC not support playstation controllers?

i was able to play through the entirety of sonic generations with no issue using my dualshock 4, but the main menu and shadow generations don't recognize me as having a controller connected at all when trying to use my DS4 or dualsense controller, it only accepts keyboard inputs when either controller is connected and I can't adjust the settings for gamepad controls in the options menu

i know i can use external tools to probably get around this, but unless I'm missing something somehow, this feels like a pretty massive oversight for one half of the game to support playstation controllers while the "main" game doesn't, especially since the spare xbox controller I had laying around happened to instantly be recognized by the game as soon as I plugged it in

this isn't a developer build, this was a demo build sent out to a japanese publication (dengeki online, one of the biggest in the country) that accidentally set the video footage they recorded and were going to release later as unlisted instead of private

they wouldn't have this many completely unannounced DLC characters modeled this many months in advance either way, we don't even know what the release schedule for the DLC is and the characters in the leaks combined with super hero and daima amount to a lot more than just "20+"

something similar happened with xenoverse 2 where goku black and DBS trunks were pre-order/early access bonuses before being "officially" released later as part of the DLC, and hit being in base XV2 and getting new presets and skills in a later patch to go with the U6 tournament DLC

you're forgetting that based on what we know they already had to make at least 181 characters from presumably scratch for the base game alone, this isn't like the previous tenkaichi games where they were able to reuse assets like models between games. of course there were going to be priorities on what got into the game so that it would actually be able to come out without taking an eternity, that's why we're missing things like garlic jr's base form, and potentially all the what if great ape transformations as well

DLC leaves an opportunity for those characters to still be in the game, and there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that they're going to milk it like XV2 did, especially since the current season pass announced contains more than 20 characters just by itself, they are most likely going to use DLC past super hero and daima for those "lesser" characters people weren't really asking for as well as some of the more major cuts like (maybe) super 17, especially since they have nowhere to go but backwards in the franchise

On a quest looking for Sunburst Communications games
On a quest looking for Sunburst Communications games

Mainly for their PC games released between 1995 and the 2000s, I've been on a bit of a nostalgia trip recently trying to rediscover these games I played in elementary school (namely Type to Learn Jr. and Type to Learn 3), only to discover a large number of games they also developed that are basically impossible to find anywhere these days. There is very little information on these games anywhere on the internet, with screenshots and videos being extremely rare, and no actual catalogue of the games they've made from what I can tell. Their older PC games pre-Windows seem to be pretty well preserved, at least, with a large number of them currently available on archive.org, but those don't really interest me as much

Most of these games are currently unavailable for purchase anywhere on sites like eBay either, which makes obtaining them very difficult, I'm not even entirely sure most of these games were ever sold individually in stores, or were just exclusively for classroom usage/sold exclusively through things like book fairs. If anyone knows anything about these games, or would be able to help me track down and play them, I'd greatly appreciate it, the two games I'm looking for most of all are "Sunbuddy Math Playhouse" from 1997 and "Type to Learn Jr. New Keys for Kids" from 2001

he did have the one arm in sagas, but he had both in shin budokai, tenkaichi 3, raging blast 2, and xenoverse 2

it was believed that future gohan was only ever portrayed with both arms in the video games because of an issue with the japanese rating system, and that it was fine in sagas because it was an american developed game

did he ever have stamina issues with ultimate? I feel like every time it's brought up in super he only goes into super saiyan first because he has some sort of blockage preventing him from using his full power, whether it's him being too out of practice (most of super before the ToP) or a mental block (super hero), which is consistent with his character in how he's had trouble harnessing his full power at will ever since he was a child

she was present during the entirety of the piccolo jr fight, even literally the chapter before the first "Z" arc started

she last appeared in chapter 194 (september 27 1988), the final chapter before "Z", and her explanation for her "disappearance" because toriyama thought he forgot about her was in chapter 196 (october 8 1988), only 11 days apart

how he managed to forget he'd been drawing her for an entire arc and that she never actually went anywhere until he purposefully wrote her out of the story, we'll never know, but it's worth noting the interview where he claimed to have forgotten about her was in 2003, so it's entirely possible he mixed up the timeframe between her final appearance and being written out and just got confused over what he had done 15 years beforehand, especially since he's admitted he didn't really read the manga after it was published and didn't watch much of the anime

in a retrospective sense, a show like samurai is one of the worst ways to begin a new era of the series, especially because of all the production issues it faced, not just from being under a time crunch but also the belief that the show would be better off basically being a straight "dub" of the source material with very little edits to the storyline or setting, compared to previous PR shows that were all a lot more loose with those things of things. however samurai was already unpopular with older fans for feeling like the show had been significantly dumbed down, and not just in comparison to RPM either, it was a bad sign of what was to come next

next we had megaforce, and it was hated even back when it was released for the first half of it essentially being an incredibly forced and extremely poor imitation of MMPR for no real reason besides to desperately try and recreate what made the original show work and rope older fans back in, and super megaforce leaning even harder into nostalgia by throwing out basically everything original gokaiger had, including the extremely limited usage of the pirate theming of the powers (partially out of necessity due to goseiger and gokaiger not being connected originally but being made into a continuing narrative in PR) to purely focus on the old ranger powers in the lead up to the legendary battle, which was over far too soon for all the buildup it had since the beginning, and basically sabotaged for how cheap the production and saban were for wanting old actors to come back for extremely minimal pay that would have barely even covered travel fees, leading to a lot of them (very reasonably so) rejecting the invite to appear

at this point a lot of the damage had already been done, so when something like dino charge came out, what reason was there to continue giving the neo-saban era a chance if the previous 4 years were already just an extremely ineffective start towards retaining people's interest? it doesn't help that ninja steel ended up being the worst of the worst in a lot of what people hate about the neo-saban era in being extremely childish with its tone and humor, especially for relying too heavily on fart jokes, which makes dino charge being as well liked as it is feel more like a fluke, being sandwiched between what are considered otherwise mediocre or outright bad seasons

would have loved this honestly, and it's weird because the game had music you could pick up from other konami IPs like castlevania, and they did have an online event based on silent hill, it's honestly one of my biggest gripes with the game that they didn't take advantage of the multiverse and alternate timeline concept they had set up and go full absolutely stupid with the crossover and fanservice stuff

to me a lot of the problem with the initial theories back when it first happened was the assumption that "steam train was made without jon's consent/he was forced to do it" when we now know that isn't the case given he obviously was part of the reveal trailer that was dumped on ross's channel when the original plans fell through and jon moved away, people were looking for any reasoning they could

i wouldn't be surprised if there were discussions on having someone else fill in before it was settled on danny though, he came off to a lot of people as the strangest and most random possible choice for a co-host given most people weren't aware at the time of dan and arin having been friends with years beforehand (with NSP only having gotten a minor boost in popularity previously with the dinosaur laser fight music video that arin animated segments for), as well as the planned steam train introduction video that was supposed to introduce his new (original) role to the channel not actually going up, and needing to ease in dan and quickly introduce him as the new "not-so-grump" in a single day messing things up leaving people feeling like he was being shoved into their faces, everything about it felt very last minute and hastily thrown together rather than being something that had been properly planned out in advance in having dan take over as the new co-host of the show

i doubt he asked chris specifically though, the success of game grumps already caused other people from the NG crew to try and emulate it, like el cid starting his channel "totally not gay gaming" a few months after GG started, with minor collabs with people like tomar and lyle that completely flopped and never really took off, and chris was off doing his own thing at the time with the sleepycabin crew who generally stayed pretty far away from the whole thing until oneyplays started up, they were all mocking let's play culture and "selling out" for a very long time, even with animation becoming less profitable on youtube

my best guess was that he might have only really asked ross originally, which probably would have worked out better given his significantly more stable schedule, and steam train mostly ended up being arin and ross after a while anyway because danny was too busy to record

Barry seems to have implied that the reason the other shows died (beyond just the people involved in them moving on from GG) was because the channel was starting to focus much more heavily on Arin and Dan again, similar to how it was in the Jon and early Dan eras before these other shows started, rather than the revolving door of staff and guests who would appear on Steam Train/Steam Rolled/Grumpcade, and that was part of the reason he himself moved on because he didn't really feel like he was part of the team anymore. You can kind of see it in how Ross and Suzy don't participate anymore either, despite still being there and able to (ignoring Suzy's negative reputation with older fans)

Ultimately, I think it comes down to whether or not it's considered to be a good idea from the corporate side of things, people didn't like Kevin (although this was more because of his editing becoming extremely subpar and lazy rather than because of the guy himself), even more people didn't like Ben, and I've heard Allie was in a similar situation for a while, so it's hard to say whether or not they'd want to have a consistently regular guest actively participating (instead of just being in the background) on the show again, especially when it comes to someone who is more or less just on the business management team being put into that role.

I'm not really sure of how much of an actual impact it would make on the quality of the show, either positive or negative, but I always appreciated it when there were more people than just Arin and Dan doing shows, felt like there was a lot more life and intrigue, especially with how eager Ross always was for his own projects, it would be nice to have that spark back

arin also donated enough money to the kickstarter to make a cameo appearance in the game as his grump head iirc, so it's strange it just completely passed by them, i assume at this point they'll never play it because no one cares about the game anymore

I feel like most people have forgotten what it was like during the mid 2000s because of how spoiled for content we've been since Battle of Gods came out, the GT dub ended in 2005 and there was just nothing for years on end besides new game releases. It was being vastly overshadowed by the newcomers to the western anime scene (mainly Naruto) and you could tell that Dragon Ball as an IP was really losing its spark in the west beyond people who grew up with it, especially when the quality of the games started dropping after Tenkaichi 3 and became increasingly half baked and purposefully unfinished (looking at Burst Limit, Raging Blast, and Ultimate Tenkaichi here)

And Japan had it even worse as far as the anime was concerned, GT ended in 1997 and there was absolutely nothing for the next 10 years until that OVA with Vegeta's brother released, and then the desperate attempt to bring Dragon Ball back into relevancy with Kai, which failed spectacularly to the point where they didn't even do the Buu saga until several years later, it's such a weird period of time where you could actually say "Dragon Ball is dead" and it would have been true

i usually split them up between the eras of not so grump, for jon goof troop, kirby super star, mega man 7, and donkey kong country are the ones i always go back to, out of those i probably like mega man the most though

and then for dan specifically i always love going back to rewatch trauma center or punch out wii

From what I remember hearing, he had been willing to return in the past if he had at least gotten any form of apology for his treatment during his time on the show by the production crew, but it never ended up happening, Walter Jones also refused to return in Super Megaforce for the same reason, mega kudos to him for sticking up for David Yost over the money (which wasn't much anyway)

They don't read the complaints to begin with, Arin has made it a point to not read any of the comments left on the videos (outside of to make fun of them for a joke, see: the Dale Gribble voice bits, although that was several years ago by now) or the main subreddit and this is the way it's been for years.

There's never really been any acknowledgement of the issues with the content outside of critical things that needed to be addressed, like when Kevin would massively screw up a video while editing and requiring a reupload back when he was the editor, but even that wasn't very common. They keep getting views regardless of the content of the videos, and the amount of people complaining is very much a minority compared to the people that still watch every video they put out

one of these days I'm gonna have to actually listen to triforce 2, have been avoiding it all these years cause the time period it was released in is more indicative of "the end" of a certain era of my life than triforce 1 was, which I comparatively listen to all the time because of the memories of that time i considered GG to be at its peak. at this point i'm just saving it for a special moment
