From Kale on Discord:

"the original Taito Type X is a DFI ITOX G7S620-N-G, which is slightly out of our reach atm (lack at least 3 major chipset steppings in the Intel family)

To not mention that we don't have the actual BIOS dumped (customized)

I had this recently with the app, too. Go into your settings app, force close, clear all data and cache. It should work after that. You'll need to log back in after doing this.

Fair enough. I got it specifically because it was a VFD; it goes well next to the clock I have that uses a VFD from an old oven.

If you have notes from it and what works/how and what doesn't, it might still be helpful to drive it for simplistic tasks like AIDA64 and extend it just a bit with custom code. (Or if you found out from elsewhere, a link to it!)

I ended up 3D printing a shim to place under the socket rather than using washers, and it seems to be working quite well; haven't seen temps over 60 (and I had to change out the cooler for a Noctua NH-U12S.) I can't make a comparison to not having the shim but once I got one that was perfectly flat (at only .96mm but close enough) I started building.

The shim is here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5199781

Yeah, it's a great device, and it won't be limited to just your older games; pretty much everything I've played on it so far have been modern titles. You might not be able to crank things up to Ultra but the panel is only 720p and the GPU is quite powerful for integrated, so you won't be on potato, either.

If you set it to auto, it will spawn three traffic vehicles plus yours. I've spawned an additional traffic vehicle and didn't notice any performance degradation, but I've not tried more than that to see at what point it starts to slow down.

That's why I've only focused on the weapons that either are or are extremely closely based on real life weapons; I've left out of the request original designs or massive departures (ones that would obviously be the weapons from the particular game), and I'm not looking for exact replicas of the game firearms, but the actual firearms they're based on. That should avoid any copyright issues since you're targeting the real life weapon rather than explicitly taking the ones from the game, but I'm not a lawyer, so I could be wrong.

Anton, please: Goldeneye 007 (1997), Perfect Dark (2000) Weapons
Anton, please: Goldeneye 007 (1997), Perfect Dark (2000) Weapons

Hi there, brand new VR player, just got my setup and this is the first (and so far only) game I played with it; there's just so much to do and play with, it's great!

One thing I would like added are some of the (missing) weapons from Goldeneye 007, the classic FPS for the Nintendo 64 released in 1997. Most of the weapons are already in the game (PP7, DD44) or have models close enough (Klobb, ZMG) or aren't based on real weapons (Shotgun, Automatic Shotgun), but a few aren't quite there, and I'd like to request these!

The "KF7 Soviet": According to IMFDB, this is intended to be an AKS-74 (though Goldeneye lacks the folding stock, as it does with any weapon that originally had one). The AKS-74U doesn't work at all, and the AKM has a wooden stock.

The "US AR33 Assault Rifle": This one is close to one in H3, but it's a Colt M16A2, which has enough of a visual difference to throw things off. (Weeb bonus: The M16A2 is also the signature weapon of Duke Togo of the "Golgo 13" manga/anime series, using a scope mounted atop the handle.)

The "Cougar Magnum": This one is actually in H3 already, it's the Hawk 357 (aka Ruger Blackhawk), but the one in Goldeneye had a stainless finish while the one in H3 is in black.

While we're on James Bond, his sidearm from 'Casino Royale (2006), the Walther P99, I think would also make an excellent addition to the game.

As for Perfect Dark:

The "Falcon 2": This one is a Colt Double Eagle.... this one's just not in H3 at all.

The "CMP 150": This one's based on a Steyr TMP, which also isn't in H3.

The "Mag Sec 4": This one is in the game (The M93RA9) but it fires a four round burst instead of three for unknown reasons (the fire selector even shows three dots).

I know you no doubt have a ton of guns on your list, and I'll enjoy the game whether these are added or not, but I'd be super happy if you could add these and make some childhood dreams come true, even if only virtually. Absolutely love the game and keep up the wonderful work!

Edit: I'd like to clarify, I'm looking for the real world guns the ones in the games are/were based on, not the specific guns from the games themselves. I understand how tricky copyright can be and I'm not looking to ask you to put anything in a negative position regarding such.

I've been playing this since I got my WIN 3 with no trouble at High presets. Unfortunately, I have nothing to suggest as to why it isn't working for you, but it should work at the very least....

Hey, that's not cool. Character theft isn't taken lightly in the furry fandom; it's a very anxiety-inducing experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone, so furs will get pretty upset when they see it happening. I'm upset, but I'm willing to forgive as long as you delete the post and don't try it again. There are resources out there for creating your own fursona even if you don't have the money to commission an artist. Just, don't steal things that aren't yours, that's all.

Try to have a good day, and I hope you have success creating your very own fursona. :3

If you want to make your own fursona, you can find blank bases made for that sort of thing that you can edit yourself in a drawing program like Krita or Photoshop. It's easy and cheap enough to make your own (and it feels a lot better when you see your very own creation come to like), so please, don't steal mine or anyone else's.

Microsoft doesn't even have information on this one, the KB article just says "This bug check appears very infrequently."

I've never seen limits outside those specified by the SD Forum. They're typically just quoting the maximum size commercially available at the time the device was made or when the announcement was made. 99.99% chance cards up to 2TB will work.

Ah, the BIOS channel.

Looks like a storage device died.

All the ones I've seen are Windows; you'll see them crashed now and again on r/PBSOD either with a Windows Error Reporting dialog or a bluescreen.

I've also got an ex-McDonalds thin client that was retired for bulging caps in the PSU, once those were replaced it booted to Windows XP Embedded.

Kernel mode exception not handled. Means something running at elevated privilege (in kernel mode, as opposed to user mode) encountered a CPU exception, and didn't have a way of recovering from it. In this case, it was the integrated graphics driver, likely as a result of bad RAM.

I'm using an old Cisco PSU that can supply quite a bit of amps at 5V, and mine will only burst to 1680MHz as well. Unfortunately, I'm not sure why. It's possible the passive heatsink can't clear the heat away from the die fast enough for the chip to decide it's safe to hit 1920, or that core utilization never allows it (It's only supposed to hit 1920 when using a single core, if another core is above a certain threshold, it won't burst above 1680.)

systemd will drop you into "emergency mode" for any number of reasons. The only way to find out which reason it is is to sift through the log using journalctl.

It looks more like the system here had a sudden power cut, and systemd didn't like something, so it aborted the boot. The storage would appear to be fine, given fsck didn't find any problems.

It's a B-Key M.2 slot, IINM; It should thus support the following, according to Wikipedia: PCIe ×2, SATA, USB 2.0 and 3.0, audio, UIM, HSIC, SSIC, I2C and SMBus

However, whether or not they've followed the standards and pinned all these out to the connector is unsure. They may have implemented only enough for SATA, likely due to limitations of the chosen SoC.

Definitely plausible. Could also be crappy firmware, or the NFC hardware causing EMI and crashing the processor, though one would expect it to crash during the transaction rather than after if that were the case. Very hard to diagnose without having one in front of you, and those things definitely have tamper protection, so trying to open it will nuke it.

Could be almost anything. Electrical noise, damaged/disconnected bit line, error in the firmware of the device driving the LCD; these characters are all part of the standard set embedded in the LCD controller, and it's likely just displaying what it thinks it has received, whether that's correct or not.

This is incorrect. Windows CE could run on the Dreamcast, and a few bargain basement games used it, but it did NOT run CE in the BIOS nor in the vast majority of games.

That said, a lot of games from the mid-2000s onward (and more of them over time) are indeed running on a PC running some version of Windows.

It's not. They're connecting a display to the machine that controls the locking rack the bikes are connected to, which is sealed away from the elements.

It's controlled by a specialized piece of hardware specifically and only for the elevator operations. This is just a screen in the elevator for displaying advertisements.

Yes and no. Linux (Not specific to any distro, DE or architecture) boots in text mode, yes (though some distros hide the text behind a splash screen), however reading the text itself lets you know something has gone wrong, resulting in a stuck/crashed kernel.

replied to

Incorrect; something has gone wrong and the scheduler is detecting a stalled process and dumping state information. It may just need a reboot or the hardware could be failing.

That would require a bit more debugging, or at least a picture of the BSOD. It does sound like some sort of power management issue; it may be trying to go into a deeper sleep after 20 minutes, or it may be trying to wake up and some device isn't happy about it.

Either way, more details are necessary to pinpoint anything, but you can try updating all your drivers to the latest versions, disabling more aggressive power management features, or even disabling sleep mode entirely.

hd* hasn't been used for PATA in quite a number of years; it was replaced with the newer system that puts it all under sd*.

Almost certainly. It's just that "MINIX" is a Unix-like OS that's been around for decades, and if whoever designed the interface had done any searching whatsoever, they would have discovered the same. (Or they did and didn't care, which is probably equally possible.)

Not entirely true. I believe Windows 7 hasn't hit EOL quite yet (it's very soon, though), and some of the Embedded/POSReady variants still have support into the future.
