No videos. Could be my pc blocking the site or maybe something else. Don't know if anyone else can see them. The embedded links seem to be:
https://qu.ax/x/Cxucj.mp4andhttps://qu.ax/x/cpAZX.mp4 Which is also autoblocked by my antivirus because qu DOT ax, appears to be a site known for malware.... I'm not really familiar with video hosting services, but I'd guess it's best to stick to Streamable/Vimeo/Youtube.

Updated map04. Spiced most of the fight up a bit. Nothing too fancy but should be more engaging overall. Didn't do much balancing to health or ammo but seems good to me. Did run into some buggy behavior with the exit sectors but think it's resolved. They were only visual issues but hopefully good now. Will grab a couple screens later today and update the db thread.
EDIT: Did a quick stealth update. Made a switch repeatable to prevent a possible softlock.
EDIT2: Updated the DB thread.

A long, long time ago, likely in the 90s already. I do have old Doom downloads with some text files containing links to it from 1998-1999.

I swear I read an article once that had a story about Romero passing around a photo of Burger Becky and people taking turns stabbing it... or something close to that. Not having any luck finding it though. EDIT: Becky beat me to it.
I think it's from the book Masters of Doom.
"[John] Romero marched into the kitchen at id [Software], waving a crudely drawn caricature of Burger Becky, the renowned gamer rumored to keep hamburgers for days in her desk. Tom [Hall], Kevin [Cloud], and Adrian [Carmack] followed, cackling. Romero stapled Becky's picture to the chair, then grabbed a steak knife from the drawer. It was time for revenge.
Becky had been contracted by id to convert or port Wolfenstein for the Super Nintendo. But with the deadline approaching, she still hadn’t delivered an iota. She finally admitted that there was a problem: she had made the mistake of signing id’s contract while employed by the game publisher Interplay. Her contract with Interplay stipulated that any work an employee did was property of the company; the Super Nintendo port, therefore, was now owned by Interplay.
The id guys flipped. “See,” Romero said, “this is just the kind of bullshit you get when you rely on other people.” Tom took out a pencil and sketched a hideous caricature of Becky with burger meat dripping from her greasy mouth. Romero swiped it from his hands and said it was time for Becky to pay the price. In the kitchen, they took turns stabbing the picture, yelling and laughing and egging each other on. They began attacking the chair, knifing it, stomping it, trashing it. Days later, when Becky came to visit, the ruins were still on the floor. She took one look at the knife with her name scrawled on the blade and asked meekly, “Um, what’s this?” Then they fired her. [John] Carmack would do the port himself."

Not having any luck finding it though. Romero marched into the kitchen at id, waving a crudely drawn caricature of Burger Bill, the renowned gamer rumored to keep hamburgers for days in his desk. Tom, Kevin, and Adrian followed, cackling. Romero stapled Bill’s picture to the chair, then grabbed a steak knife from the drawer. It was time for revenge.

I have less respect when I found out about him making minors learn about trans and "helping" them transition on IRC sites I had to go to Wikipedia to figure out who this was. I really hate how the hurtful and disgusting things that these people do throughout their lives are just glossed over and downplayed. This is a quote from this guy's Wikipedia page:
Heineman was married to Jennell Jaquays, a fellow transgender woman. Jaquays died in 2024. Heineman had three children from an earlier marriage that ended in divorce.
So if I'm understanding this correctly, the guy married a woman and had not 1, not 2, but 3 kids with her! Then he decided that he wanted to pursue his degenerate sexual fetishes and be with another dude cosplaying as a woman, so he left his wife and kids (i.e. stopped being a responsible adult and a proper role model to his progeny). Absolutely abhorrent.

api Thanks for the feedback. It's been a while since I had played the other maps. I actually nerfed my northern section because it felt out of place difficulty wise. I may make some tweaks to add a bit more bite to those fights. Overall I'm not too worried about difficulty progressions. Once the project opens up as a more standard one the map order will almost certainly get adjusted but if it feels like the easiest map it probably does need some more teeth.

I tried the wad and I just got past the third loop and this is probably where the horror part starts I noticed that when you open the command line there is a level 01 thats literately called This is not My House

Sad what happened to the guy. Unlike most aware trannies nowadays William got hit with Gender Dysphoria which is a mental sickness that has the patient questioning their gender identity aka is not really sure if he's male/she's female. When I was reading up on it it felt like a person dying and some backwards mongloid taking over the same body, akin to an alien parasite. RIP William and fuck "Rebecca". I have less respect when I found out about him making minors learn about trans and "helping" them transition on IRC sites Oof...that's disgusting. Brainwashing minors into your own sickness is starting to let me believe William used that as an excuse rather than it being the dry truth. I miss when people had shame over certain things, especially down to horrific sexual topics. "Gender-confused teenager" also shows parental neglect which is a great opportunity for pedos and "wokewashers" alike. I don't use Bluesky for obvious reasons so this flew past my radar. Thanks for this!

heroism lasted until last year, at this point it's either adapt or die in a fire. entire fields of human knowledge might as well belong to yog sothoth now. hype i guess

If you don't eat meat, the pipeline from moo moo to mall is unaffected. Someone just gets a piece of beef you haven't got. Same with calculating power The beef's ass I must admit and having to see its spoiled hull on here is stomach-twisting. And let's be honest here you don't have to be one of the many retarded tech-bros. Be a hero or at least aware and not destructive.

This is the type of shit RAM prices increase with and with that any other parts essential for AI. I mean it, nigger, this was absolutetly not worth it. Also the videos worked directly out of the box so I'm not sure what the problem could've been there. Sorry I won't use AI anymore Sad what happened to the guy. I played the map 3 times this morning. At first it felt like the easiest map 'til now, and by far... but it was mostly because I found one secret without searching for it, being at the right place, at the right moment with the right move. That's why I tried it again two other times (because there is a touch of non-linearity). It's a bit more difficult without this secret, still very fair ! I'd say the best area regarding fights is the eastern one, I won't change anything there.
The red key area fight : first part : most of the low tiers guys moved towards the central area when the first switch was activated so, no real difficulty to manage them... then the hell nobles don't present any real menace. Second part : the ambush with revenants and chaingunners. Since you can run to the central area it's also quite harmless (maybe close the entrance door to this area then add a switch in one of the closet of the ambush ?)
The yellow key area fight : first part can be cheese by running back (maybe add a blocking teleporting pinkie or two ?), second (revenants and chaingunner) and third (cacos and lost souls) are cool, not hard but cool. The arachno and pain elementals appearing when yellow key taken are fair (much easier if you get the plasma from the red door before going for the yellow key)
The green key area looks really cool but the fights are the easiest of the map (the first dormant archvile can easily be taken from far away with RL)(maybe making him and his buddy appear from the ground ?) then, in each of my runs, the mancubus, second archvile etc started infighting before I started firing, making this part of the fight pointless.
So, as for the first three maps, I really like the design, textures, atmosphere, though maybe one or two fights need just a tiny bit of steroid (mostly in comparison with previous maps).

Also the amount of calculating power you use and some company uses is a drop in a sea
|
|
The process going on is a redistribution of calculating power from local machines to collective calculations centres. Lol. The playing actors of now and near future is gonna be decentralised autonomous neighborhoods, and cities under corporation control. When autonomous guys get independent electricity-wise from the cyberpunk cities, they'd be able to get their RAM and other stuff in some ways

One of the guys who worked on Tremor, skacky, also makes custom content for Thief. He's incredibly talented.

Rolled Map04 into the resource wad. A few minor tweaks and nerfed my section to the north a bit.
Could probably use a couple more test runs to make sure things are good if anyone want to give it a go.

I remember using Darkplaces to play Quake in general. Tried playing Quake Enhanced since it was given to me for free as well.
Traditional Quake maps like this are a treat.
|
A general thread to link and/or discuss Quake projects.
This one popped into my timeline and looks interesting. 32 winquake compatible maps, so they should have a more 'traditional' size and scope than a lot of other modern Quake stuff. Poked around a few and it looks like it could be worth a play for anyone who digs oldschool Quake. Link
