Legendary singer and Taylor Swift’s longtime friend Stevie Nicks is expected to perform with Swift at her wedding celebration, The New York Times reported.
A person with knowledge of the event told the Times Swift and Nicks had a sound check in the Garden earlier today. And a man who appeared to be working the event was overheard saying that Swift had already entered the venue for the festivities and that she would perform with Nicks today, the Times reported.
The years-long friendship blossomed after the pair performed together at the 2010 Grammy Awards. Since then, the Fleetwood Mac singer known as the “Fairy Godmother of Rock ‘n’ Roll” has become a trusted confidante for Swift.
Swift has frequently praised Nicks for paving the way for female artists, even name-checking her on her 2024 track “Clara Bow.”
The lyrics read: “You look like Stevie Nicks in ’75, the hair and lips. Crowd goes wild at her fingertips. Half moonshine, a full eclipse.”

Swift and Sheeran, who was accompanied by his wife, Cherry Seaborn, are longtime close friends and frequent collaborators, having not only appeared on each other’s albums, but having performed together at several of each other’s concerts.
Sheeran and Swift’s history runs deeper than that — he also opened for her 2012 Red tour and considers his first date with Seaborn to have taken place at one of Swift’s Fourth of July parties over a decade ago.

The inside of Madison Square Garden has been transformed for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding celebration, according to Charlotte Triggs, editor-in-chief of People Magazine.
Rather than resembling the sports and concert venue many people would recognize, the space has become what Triggs described as a “fairytale garden.”
“We have sources that say that they’ve seen the inside and it is absolutely majestic and beautiful, and it looks like a classic wedding,” Triggs told CNN’s Abby Phillip.

The robust guest list obviously includes several of Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs teammates, sports figures like NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and pop stars like Gwen Stefani, Fergie and Benson Boone. But there’s also others whose connections to the pair may not be as well known to the casual observer.
Actor Ethan Hawke, for example, was in Swift’s 2024 music video for “Fortnight.”
Hugh Grant hasn’t appeared in any music videos but is a noted Swiftie. He and his wife Anna Elisabet Eberstein previously attended an Eras Tour concert that made such an impression on the actor, he took to X to gush about the “incredible” show and thank Kelce, who he referred to as Swift’s “gigantic boyfriend.”
Author Jenny Han has also been seen. She penned the book series “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” which Amazon turned into a hit TV show that featured several Swift songs.

A woman named Anisa told CNN on Friday that she is missing her train to New Jersey because of the event at Madison Square Garden. She told CNN that it’s “an outrage” that a wedding is shutting down streets in New York City and impacting New York and New Jersey residents.
Swifties describe a "shift in the air" around the city
Swifties hoping to spot Taylor Swift or her wedding guests outside a Midtown hotel where various celebrities are staying say they have felt the buzz surrounding the festivities in the days leading up to the event.
Laura Lyle, who has been a fan “since I was a baby,” told CNN there has been “a shift in the air” in New York City.
“Everyone is so excited for the Madison Square Garden wedding, and a lot of people are talking about it,” Lyle said as she waited outside the hotel.

- Approximately 1,000 guests are expected to attend and about 500 vehicles are expected to drop them off, a scene that is already unfolding as a steady stream of SUVs have been seen discretely dropping guests off under a tented driveway outside of the Garden.
- A cocktail hour is set to be begin shortly at 4:30 p.m., followed by a ceremony that is expected to take place on the arena floor at 5:30 p.m. Then, it’s party time. A reception is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m. and is expected to last until the early morning hours.
- Guests will have to surrender any contact with the outside world due to a no-phone policy for all guests, vendors and security, the New York Times reported. But, honestly, with that star-studded of a guest list, who needs a phone anyway?
- The event is a tightly secure one, with a security plan that calls for the deployment of a heavy weapons teams that includes long guns, canine units, the emergency services units and others, a law enforcement official with knowledge of the plan said. Additional officers for crowd control will also be in place.
- While it remains as mystery as to what the inside of the heavily guarded Garden looks like, some clues can be gleaned from what’s been seen being loaded into the Garden over the past couple days. The vendors seen at MSG include catering companies; Krispy Kreme; Rose Brand, a supplier of theatrical fabrics, custom stage curtains, backdrops and other production equipment; and Okamoto Studio, a custom ice sculpture company.

Fans have gathered in shady spots near the intersection where her SUV is expected to arrive before the wedding festivities begin.
Temperatures in New York are approaching triple digits today as a major heat wave grips the city.
No phones at the wedding, according to the layered security plan
The approximate 1,000 guests invited to the wedding celebration of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce will enter in their cars on the southeast end of Madison Square Garden, just as guests did Thursday for the reported rehearsal dinner.
Taylor Swift is expected to enter on the north side of MSG and use the serpentine driveway, which will let her out on the floor of the arena where the wedding is set to happen, according to people familiar with the planning.
The security plan for the wedding is described as a layered plan.
Her close protection team is on the inner perimeter. Madison Square Garden’s security team is controlling access points to the building. And the NYPD has hundreds of officers, including specialized units inside and outside the building, according to the sources.
All guests are being scanned, even the most famous people, the sources said. They were told no security detail, no armed people and no phones. The MSG staff working the event is also being scanned.
There is a potential for confusion and disorganization as the famous guests exit the celebration, which is expected to end at 2 a.m., because no one will have their phones to call their chauffeurs or car services.

Page Six senior reporter Carlos Greer described Friday as “a Travis and Taylor Swift takeover,” telling CNN’s Elizabeth Wagmeister that New York City has become the center of attention as the couple’s celebration unfolds.
Greer said he understands why some questioned the decision to hold the event at Madison Square Garden, but he argued the venue makes sense given Swift’s ties to New York.
Greer also discussed reporting from Page Six that, citing Nashville sources, the couple is already legally married and that Friday’s event is expected to be a large celebration rather than the legal ceremony itself. CNN has not independently confirmed that reporting.
He shared additional details from Page Six’s reporting about Thursday night’s gathering, saying a smaller theater inside Madison Square Garden was transformed into a garden with abundant pink and orange floral arrangements. Greer said guests were served food from Sartiano’s, one of Swift’s favorite New York restaurants, and attendees included Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Selena Gomez, Jack Antonoff and Donna Kelce.
Guests got to take home “diamond encrusted gifts” including a champagne flute, Greer said.
Looking ahead to tonight, Greer said the plans, according to Page Six’s reporting, include a cocktail reception followed by a ceremony on the arena floor and a celebration expected to continue into the early morning.
Streets around Madison Square Garden have been closed by NYPD
With Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding celebrations expected to continue today, the New York Police Department has announced the closure of several streets near Madison Square Garden.
The precautions being taken surrounding the event, CNN’s Chief Law Enforcement and Intelligence Analyst John Miller has said, are likely due to both the NYPD’s efforts to manage crowds, as well as Swift’s mindfulness of security precautions.
“I think one of the things that the NYPD was facing is, if throngs of people were going to come here, crowds would have to be managed,” he told CNN’s Elizabeth Wagmeister a short while ago.
In addition to this, he said, “Taylor Swift has always been security conscious, and not just for herself, but for her fans.”
Events including the deadly 2017 terror attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England, as well as a foiled terror plot at a Taylor Swift concert in 2024, have led to Swift and her team upping security, Miller explained.
“What we’re looking at may look like overkill, but it’s one of those things that too much security is better than too little,” he said.
“I don’t think there was any part of this planning, including the security, that (Swift) didn’t personally go over and OK. And I know the sophistication of the professional team around her, and they are some of the best and most experienced — and best paid — in the business,” Miller continued.

Wedding planner estimates Swift-Kelce celebration could cost $25M to $100M
Luxury wedding planner JoAnn Gregoli estimates that transforming Madison Square Garden for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding could cost anywhere from $25 million to $100 million, calling it a “herculean task.”
Extensive draping, lighting, video mapping and a potential fairytale garden facade all could contribute to a hefty price tag for the long-awaited wedding celebration, Gregoli said.
“You don’t want people to walk in there and think that they’re in any type of arena at all. So, this means hiding seats, transforming bathrooms, hallways, walkways. It is going to take a tremendous amount of draping and foliage and florals to really turn this into something that it’s not,” Gregoli told CNN’s Elizabeth Wagmeister outside of the arena today.

As potential wedding festivities appear to ramp up, New Yorkers are being asked to conserve power
As Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding is expected to get underway soon, New Yorkers are being asked to conserve energy due to a dangerous heat wave that is straining the energy grid and has left thousands without power.
The factors that go into heat-related power outages are complicated.
More than 80,000 energy customers in New York City lost power on Thursday and Friday, according to utility ConEdison. The company had restored power to some 60,000 homes and businesses as of early Friday and was working to restore the remaining 22,000.
Many of the outages were concentrated in the Bronx and Queens. As of Friday afternoon, no outages were being reported in Manhattan, where the couple is expected to host their event.
The city’s power grid is made up of 65 separate underground systems, which aren’t designed to move power from one system to another, ConEdison spokesperson Jamie McShane said.
Many of the outages so far have been related to equipment breaking due to overheating and increased usage within individual systems, McShane said.
At least one large cooling vendor truck was seen pulling into MSG today, though it was unclear if it was for the festivities.

Now, as the whispers becomes reality, Swifties are beginning to accept that Swift will have her wedding celebration at Madison Square Garden — a venue they had not pictured for her nuptials.
“I didn’t think it was true, but I now I’m starting to think it is,” a Swiftie from California who stood outside MSG told CNN’s Brynn Gingras.
The fan added, “I am so excited for her. I’m so happy for her. I can’t wait to see all the pictures and videos that come out of this.”
