Organs of 4-year-old Arbel killed in car crash transplanted into four people
The organs of Arbel Uri Hoffman, a 4-year-old from the Tkuma settlement who was killed in a car crash last week, were transplanted into four people. Her liver was transplanted into a 10-year-old girl and her two kidneys into 14-year-olds. The National Transplant Center noted that following the liver transplant, a rare 'domino' liver transplant was also performed – a procedure that occurs once every few years. The 10-year-old girl suffers from a metabolic disease, and the transplanted liver is not suitable for continued function in her body, so it was removed and transplanted into a 44-year-old woman at Beilinson Hospital. Thus, Arbel's donation led to saving four people – three directly through her organ donation and an additional person through the rare domino transplant. Yaakov and Hila, Arbel Uri's parents, said: 'She always looked for whom she could help, to give to others and share endless love.'
