Overall, I agree that FF was a great Franchise, but unless we start seeing them go back to their Turn Based Roots of old, I don't see FF bouncing back from how much ESG/DEI has destroyed it...

Really the problem isn't games, movies, or any other regular media. It's social media and the outrage farming business that became entrenched in it like a bloated parasite. Although social media has empowered the less fortunate and marginalized to find support and courage to step forward and fight the systemic oppression they've been dealing with since forever, that same power is being used by the oppressors to divide us into camps and turn us against each other while they profit off of everyone's collective misery.

Oh, yeah. Media literacy, understanding, and articulation were all things people wanted to jump on, but very few could actually do well, leading to "criticism" that was uselessly vague or incredibly nitpicky.

It doesn't help that the game industry has done a lot of scummy things that absolutely deserve outrage. But those things are all based around predatory monetization, not inclusivity. A game choosing to star a non-white gay woman or offer accessibility modes for the disabled isn't what they hire psychologists for.

The psychologists are to turn "players into payers" with battle passes, loot boxes, and manipulative FOMO.
