When did the "activist" game developer mindset start?
Most strange phenomena can be pinned down to a single date or title, such as the first game to feature a turrent section, or the first game to feature quick-time events (I'm glad those two features are gone). So, what was the first game where the developers had a "activist" mindset, where they didn't care about their customers at all and actively fought against them brazenly. When did this terrible, narcissistic mindset start, and what's the first game to be plagued by it?

I can pinpoint such a mindset with movies, with Ghostbusters 2016. That was the first movie I saw where the director, the actors, and even the studio funding it actively went against the customers and fought against them so openly. It was pretty weird, which made it satisfying when the movie flopped and it sequel was cancelled.

But what about games? What was the first game to be plagued with the "activist" mindset that ruined it?

As I've already said.

Why must the steam forums have these kinds of threads? They never lead to anything good.

Though its nice of you to admit what your problem actually is.
UI mean the fact you're claiming its industry wide kinda undermines your prefered narrative.
Can't get employed as the DEI already are in and straight white males are the last choice in being employed, zero to do with talent and everything to do with what your sexuality and gender is..

That is a blatant lie. Nobody has ever proven this to be the case. Nobody is going to hire someone incompetent for any part of game development, be it coding, design or music composing. Maybe they'll hire an incompetent manager, but nobody will complain if the white male manager is incompetent.

I told you the facts, and you cropped them out and pretended not to see them.

I also find it hilarious that you try to tell Americans that their lived reality is fake when you don't even live in the USA.

It's also funny that you repeatedly state that only right wing grifters say this ♥♥♥♥, even after I have repeatedly linked you to DEI speakers that were admitting to saying it, and stating that they needed to change the narrative because it was having the opposite effect.

But what really takes the cake is your selective amnesia every time this topic comes up again and again.
Need I remind all of you that the last thread that mentioned activism was locked one day ago?
Watching activists complain about activists is always an amusing watch, I need popcorn.

It was only locked because it devolved into a non-productive argument.

Which is usually the end goal for many of the terminally online steam forum users. They always swarm threads like this with the intention of derailing them or baiting others into getting banned. The act of actually discussing the rot infesting the industry is like an act of war to these people so they believe they must be ever vigilant.

Even though I've witnessed it several times over the years it's still kind of crazy how these people are so determined to keep their precious forum protected from wrongthink. So much so that they create dozens of alt accounts so when they get banned for acting insane they just switch to another and keep the cycle going. They even give themselves awards and compliment their own messages to create this false sense that their beliefs are commonly held ones. It's actually kind of sad really. Imagine that your sole purpose in life is patrolling an internet forum and creating drama for it's users whenever they express something you don't agree with. Truly must be a miserable existence but it's certainly deserved.
I really started to notice it around Dragon Age Origins. There was some woke crap in that game, but still the overall game was still pretty good. Then the game industry went downhill from there, pretty much only hiring furries and blue haired land whales... followed by them never being able to figure out why their games suck, thus being doomed to repeat the cycle.
Because as we know, straight white men only make games that do well.
*sigh*

This is the definition of confirmation bias.
Also a prime example of scape-goating

The ones swooning over "straight white male" developers are very quick to forget that no "blue-haired land-whales" and "furries" were responsible for Duke Nukem Forever, Dawn of War 3 nor Command & Conquer 4.
I'm not against politics in gaming. I grew up on Final Fantasy and MGS. However, I'm against games that place politics ahead of well, the story and game play as those are my two driving factors for playing a game. Look as a 8 year old playing Final Fantasy MGS 3, I didn't understand the politics in the game but they were there for sure. Now I have to sit through games where we're essentially saving the world and " Do you have a moment to talk about my sexual orientation?"... No you Jehovah’s Witnesses, either use your powers or jump in the sack ( I totally banged Taash). I'm not saying those type of stories shouldn't exist in games, but they need to make sense. Like I'm tired of stories where the world is on the brink of collapse, but before we can save the planet we need to defend it from wrong think? It comes out of nowhere because logically, if we don't save the planet first, there won't be anyone around to call you a racist or homophobic slur at all.

I'm also not a fan of game developers saying their studio has no people from a certain race because of their "safety", when we all know damn well if that race of the alleged safety concerns used statistics to show why actually they arent safe around the race of the person using the racial safety concerns to not hire them, they'd be cancelled and given today's climate, probably executed while walking in downtown New York.

Its always the people who bring up that they don't want politics in their gaming who are made out to be the villains, not the actually people who have come in and used gaming as a form to push their agenda. "What do you mean you don't want these point of views shoved in your face in every aspect of your life, you biggot!?"

Its like escapism isnt allowed at all anymore. We must all be aware that others exist, their point of view is more important than yours in your own life. We must be fully aware that you are broke, the cost of living is going up and you must care about others more than yourself... also they will not care about you if you're of a lighter complexion because despite all of your issues, you can just punch in your privilege card and get out of the problem. That's how the world works, right?

Now for my quick form points.

- as a mixed race muggle playing games since the early 90s I have never had to see myself in gaming. I use gaming to step away from myself and experience a cool story. Anyone who needs to see themselves in everything has a case of main character syndrome in my opinion.

- The gaming industry feels like a bunch of non-gamers making gaming decisions and hiring non gamers to make games.

- Politics would take a backseat to game play and a coherent story in my ideal world

Did you 'notice' or did you 'made notice'.
Quite often the media we consume and the circles we frequent shapes how we perceive the world around, sometimes without even us noticing.

If I worked fixing the same brand of computer and watched a lot of videos on how to fix said computers it's easy to end up with a biased perception of that brand. Afterall all you see and breathe around are broken pieces of it.

It's the same thing that happen with people who get too much into raccord errors in movies or 'plot holes'... At a certain moment that's all you notice from them and it can end up impacting the enjoyment you get from your hobby.

Everything in moderation.

The very backbone of the internet is run by furries.

Most likely outcome of a game release is failure. Being another fish in the ocean.
And that's for those who make it to the release line.
