imo you should have a mechanism to make the game at least 30% easier and design assuming the average player is not using that mechanism. in zelda you can scrounge more pieces of heart or potions; in anything with levels you can grind; in puzzle games well you can look it up but hints are nice too

arcade games are exempt. postgame "here's a bunch of awful levels i could not justify putting in the real game" is exempt. alternate story/ending is NOT exempt
