The Line Ends Here
A customer is not getting the price that they want. They’ve asked for a manager, but since they’re calling late at night, they’re also unimpressed with being told a manager would call them back in the morning.
Caller: “Well, I’m not going anywhere unless you give me the price I want.”
Me: “As I have said, sir, I am unable to do that. Unless there’s anything I can help you with that doesn’t involve discounting our services, then—”
Caller: “—I know how it works! You’re not allowed to hang up! So I’m gonna tie up your line for as long as it takes until you give me what I want.”
Me: “Actually, sir, we’re allowed to hang up if the caller states that phrase.”
Caller: “What?! You can’t be—”
Me: *Click.*
We don’t actually have a policy around that phrase, but our boss is cool and has told us we’re allowed to hang up if the caller is being abusive or purposefully obstructive, and I think that counted!
Also, it was satisfying as h***!
