Side 2 of this cut is awful. Very distorted sounding, like there wasn't a good connection or the cutter head was blown.

At least the music is awful

This one could sound better, but the vinyl quality is bad. This is also a tough on to track. Those bright trumpets make some real noise when you're playing a 60 year old record that hasn't been cared for.

This is such a corny album. Not in a fun, let's get together and make fun of it kind of way. There's that one song on it we all like, then there's the rest. It's abysmal. It's tough to not turn off. No wonder they hid the hit on track 8.

This pressing is noisy and off center and the cut isn't very good. Lots of playback distortion. Meh...

Save your money for pot and get to that happy place you're looking for that way...

I'm listening to the Indianapolis pressing right now. It's not harsh. There is an extra bit of 3-5kHz added to the vocals in the mix, but it's nothing that doesn't sound like either records of the time. It's well within normal ranges of engineering.

This was recorded by Phil Ramone at A&R Studios. A year later Billy Joel would record The Stranger there as well as Paul Simon and others. There is a house sound to these records.

Not the best vinyl quality.

Does not sounds as good as th White Label Promo. This cut sounds like it's from a copy tape. 3dB lower. Slightly muffled top end. More compressed. It's still a nice sounding record.

Slightly off center pressing. Quiet vinyl though. Nice cut, too.

It was mixed blandly. The mix engineer didn't push anything to have impact. This is a really conservative and lame mix for amazing performances!

Good record. Nice pressing. Some vinyl playback distortion but it sounds like the era this artifact comes from

Nice pressing. Side 2 was slight off center. Quie vinyl. Really great sonics.

This sounds like a better cut and mastering than the 1st run Santa Maria pressing. That sounds like it was from a copy tape with compression added.

This album is a masterpiece not many people know about.

Don’t know where this kind of inspiration is hiding.

Wish I could play this for everyone attempting to create music in a world trying to compete with Ai and feed an algorithm.

Album running order was rearranged to make it work better within the limitations of vinyl.

This is a great cut and great pressing. Slightly off center pressing, but the vinyl is clean and quiet. The music sounds great and you don't hear all the compromises they had to make to fit this amount of music onto a single pressing.

It's the sound of the recording. This wasn't recorded by Bruce Botnick so it won't have that great Hi-Fi sound of Happy Together. 1st pressings of that album are an audiophile's dream (except the fake stereo title track).

Listen to the Deluxe CD version of Battle of the Bands. It's the master tapers and it has the same dull sound, so it was in the recordings, not a flawed pressing.

Side sounds perfect. Side 2 on both copes are off center and overdriven.

Quiet vinyl surfaces though.

Not the worst cut. Not the best cut. Sounds fine.

Remixed with lots of added 3kHz to make it sound like it's coming from a 1966 Public Address system. Full show with a different mix than on the original album.

How does this beauty .99 cent dust dive find sound so good? Ultrasonic cleaned and now it's nearly noiseless. Dead-centered pressing, too.
Amazing how good they were at cutting and manufacturing vinyl back then. Some sibilant S's but I'm probably the third or sixth owner and who knows what kind of Fisher Price kids record player this thing was thrown onto...

Definitive versions, IMHO. They finally got Harry's catalog in good shape. Those old CDs were hit and mostly miss. This box gets it right.

Thick vinyl. GZ pressing though. Mine is kinda noisy. Go find an original.

This is a reissue? There was a second pressing the same year as release? Does that count as a reissue?
