Hot topic to all who want to nerd out a bit . Is the modern DOOM Eternal/DOOM 2016 reboot a true successor to classic Doom, or has it lost the soul of the original games? " full disclaimer " . i helped in bringing together the interview of the legendary coder / creator of DOOM - QUAKE - so i will be also inserting the link of his interview in all my posts to support him as a token of gratitude for his contribution to DOOM and as a show of support . RARE INTERVIEW

I will now stop exploding. (unexplodeds) (poof) (reverse poof) gg for now. Careful! You go too far with that and you'll implode! Pump the brakes but don't stand on them.

duh, the few folks youre talking about arent one of the 136 people laid off at id software either. You are possibly right, I didn't read the settlement offers, if any, of each and every employee just laid off at id. Read the room; if your whole family was killed in an accident by a drunk driver would you be at all interested to read someone's comment that some drivers (not this one, obviously) are actually really good at drunk driving? It's impossible to know how one would feel in such a terrible hypothetical situation. I do see your analogy. I guess layoffs are like everything else - it sucks when you are a poor young low-class worker, and it's awesome if you are a rich old fart.

the stuff he believes in is: thousands of years of history and ancient chinese something; carbon footprint; he thinks people are doing things not calculating them and thus blindly. no, only deep neurotics actually would think about every stuff they do, also nobody can track everything that unconscious can. he just doesn't know, that there is a system that says what to do in a sea of many factors, it's in the skull. so like thinking there's everywhere an unlimited amount of possibilities and thus saying like we can't do much about that unless we calculate is bullshit. there's no 50% you meet a mammoth on the street. it's 0. they happened and died people would go and read some esoteric stuff, they'd go to those who call themselves shamans and witches, so that they could get from collective unconscious or their individual unconscious some vital info on what to do edit: i mean the more the people are torn apart from magic, the more they'd be motivated to go and find some hacks to restore their this lost ability

i wouldn't use accounting system for family, i guess it's better sorted out with intuition. For between companies, yes, that might work. you like have an accounting system and personal tokens or company tokens and do operations with them. however it's not gonna be fun cuz this way trades would less depend on trader's charisma, on their unconscious feel of a dominator, on their ability to persuade people into buying not needed shit, cuz in accounting system his tokens could cost low, a digital platform between buyer and trader also means loss of the contact, also a robot may scream like "don't buy from him, you don't need that", or an automatic buying algorithm also may neglect that trader when searching for some type of supply

I was able to get a friend to go to a tech event where some of the top tech companies and pioneers where attending , at that event she connected with the creator of DOOM / QUAKE , a legendary coder known in the tech industry who keeps to himself and never speaks much publicly , anyhow , i was able to get her to get an exclusive interview that came out a few months ago in 2025 . It was sooooo hard to get this interview , so now i feel as tho the community should have this gem to actually go in the mind of one of the person who is the reason for the DOOM community to exist to begin with since , without his contribution the game would not have had its reach . Anyhow enjoy the interview long live DOOM SLAYER !!!!!

Some folks who got laid off with fat settlements a couple of years before retirement would beg to differ. The last job i got laid off from awarded me with a severance package that amounted to about 4 weeks of pay. That's pennies when you're retiring for the rest of your life. Obviously the above does not apply to you. You didn't get a fat settlement. You are not close to retirement age. I do know a few folks who got laid off in the past few years from the company where I work, and the above certainly applied to them.

I've run into a softlock on MAP04 Guess it's too late now anyway. I backed away from the lift just the right distance to land between teleporting lines. I can see in editor how it works now and can't think of a good solution. Lines being closer might reduce a chance of this happening. Or a foolproof impassable line, that would prevent things going irreversible bad, if player ends up going up the wrong lift already. DUIa_MAP04_softlock.zip (1.71 KB)

Should've happened way earlier, 2015 at the latest. Imagine a world, where Doom (2016), Doom Eternal, The Dark Ages didn't exist, and didn't bring in so many normies. No console ports babying. The term "Boomer shooter" wouldn't exist. Just a small and niche community, with no corporate meddling.

I even included a (admittedly simple) cover of “Bullet Dam”. I’m not sure if I’ll do the same for “Paris Manson”, but that’s up to all of you. There are even (specifically in two instances), soundtrack-exclusive elements, so keep your ears out for those.
