Gonna struggle mightily against mudbois and/or rollout users with bulk.
Charjabug actually beats non-shadow Quag in the 1s and Shadow Swamp in the 2s. The match ups are loses but generally not terrible.
Steelix, Diggersby, Altaria, Clod are generally bigger issues.
Altaria running flamethrower makes that matchup a lot worse than it used to be

It does look pretty good right now as an anti-meta option. Somebody recently hit Expert safe-swapping it so they obviously felt pretty comfortable about its position in the meta. Mileage may vary.

as long as you can play around diggersby, it's pretty good.
I wouldn't safe swap it unless I had something extremely punishing to diggersby on the team.
Is there anything extremely punishing to Diggersby in the meta right now other than Altaria and Quagsire? Even Quagsire will get pretty hurt by Scorching Sands, especially if Diggersby banks a lot of energy.

I feel like he’s the new dedenne, like yes if you have a ground type perfectly aligned on it, you create a bit of an advantage, but even then, if you have perfect alignment, but a shield disadvantage, charjabug can pull a win out of the pikachu hat.
I'm really just here to support "is a cube" as a top argument for it being meta
Most players keep their tinks and water types in their back lines. So probably plan to have a water type on lead that can deal with rock/ground/fire
It’s a great mon but the horrid stats of Discharge will piss you off occasionally
Then don’t run discharge. It wins more matchups with crunch.
I’ve used Charja bug for a long time, the main issue aee The move set is average, volt switch can be very awkward to time against 3 turns without wasting energy since it charges very quickly and there’s a few 3 turn mons. But otherwise it’s got good play

I’m curious what some of you actually consider high skill mons. I see that term tossed around very casually. Hydro cannon spam? Low skill. High fast move damage? Low skill. Meta ML mon? Low skill. Bulky normal type? Low skill.
I think, in general, there is less skill expression with high damage and/or slow fast moves. Incinerate and Charm are the most common ones people call “low skill”. Volt Switch is basically a hybrid of those two, so it kind of falls in that category. Not that it matters, the bus is one of my favorite mons to use.
But the thing is,volt switch isn’t even that high dpt. It feels like it since it comes in 4 turn chunks but it’s not among the top damage moves. It also has pretty high energy so it doesn’t encourage fast move beat downs

I’ve had Charjabug on my team for the past three seasons. One of my favourites.
At least for me it is! I built one for my team, and now im climbing! Im howering around 2300-2450 and decided to try for veteran. Thats really high rating for me, and im really happy if i get there :) sure is frustrating grind lol, and i miss tankin and the dust/candies haha. But i can do this! (I hope lol)

I believe in you brother, the halal bug shall bring you to the promised land! My charja team ive been using is bug furret jelli, swap jelli and charja depending on how I am feeling/what I am seeing in lead.

Did you forget flying is weak to electric? It’s about a 50/50 match up, depending on shield scenario and IVs.
