Its not the first time Caine's VA talked about hating theories, and likely won't be the last time depending on whatever project he gets involved with in the future.
Do some people get too serious about theories? Sure. But aren't theories just an extension of expectations? When a story gives you crumbs of information alluding to what comes next, you can't help but piece them together and imagine the outcome based on your perception. The outcome you expect is usually going to be whatever it is you want out of the story, so if it turns out your prediction is wrong, you're either disappointed because the true outcome is disappointing, or happy because it EXCEEDED your expectations. What the fuck is the point of the mystery genre if we're not allowed to have expectations and theories about where the story was going next?
The Caine and Abel thing COULD have been an excellent moment to show how (albeit unintentionally) cruel Caine was, if standing up against Caine was a bigger focus, if we still got SOMEthing about C&A, and so on. Its none of those things, so the entire build up of Abel, the crumbs of info about C&A was almost a complete waste.
People aren't mad that they're theory was wrong, they're mad that this loose plot thread got a sucky conclusion. And then the main fandom, along with people like Alex here, dismisses the criticism by hiding behind the excuse of "You're expecting too much, stop expecting things, just open your mouth and swallow the slop or leave" and so on.
People predicted the SOMA theory from day 1, and even though the finale confirmed that it was correct, the finale still sucked. Its almost like the theories weren't the problem, it was Goose's shit writing.
As a side note, I found that post because it was reposted by JelloApocalypse, who also reposted this on his Tumblr
Which, yeah. I'll actually agree with that one. Glitch ain't escaping the merch allegations no matter how "necessary" it might be
I don't like that Jello reposted two things related to Digital Circus. I know he's friends with Gangle and did work for Glitch in the past, but the prospect of him cozying up to them and someday getting his own show (Possibly a continuation of his old web series) fucking terrifies me.
