To friends doing great things in their community, if you are not open to having a conversation around clean air, you are actively harming your community. Protests are high risk environments and masks don’t just prevent disease but surveillance too.
I find it so hard to see community that I used to be part of and I thought had shared values repeatedly ignore the warnings of disabled and immunocompromised people. Do we not all want the same thing? Do we not agree that inclusivity is the way to get there? So why are we still having super spreader events and refusing to engage on this subject? It is so easy to make these events safer for EVERYONE and more accessible.
Minority communities and those in areas of higher deprivation are disproportionately impacted by the devastation airborne illnesses can bring, why aren’t you protecting the communities you purport to serve? I don’t understand.
