Not really. Even then, they are cooler. If you cant get a sword you could get a dagger, and if you cant get a shield, you could get a piece of metal.
Melee combat is far more cooler than guns ever will be. Baseball Bats, Morning Stars if you're a fucking psycho, Hammer if you're a girly bruiser, etc.

Also bows and arrows are cooler, love crossbows too. Guns are boring because they have the possibility to just kill someone, no action or anything, with melee everyone has a fighting chance, you can block arrows with shields. Horses > cars btw.
