One of the world's most complete Tyrannosaurus rex skeletons, nicknamed "Gus," was showcased Wednesday at Sotheby's auction house in New York ahead of its sale later this month.

Valued at between $20 million to $30 million -- the highest price estimate ever for a dinosaur -- the giant fossil was discovered on a cattle ranch in South Dakota in 2021. 

"Gus" lived during the Maastrichtian period, some 72 to 66 million years ago, which was characterized by a warm climate, high sea levels and vast floodable coastal plains. 

The skeleton measures 38 feet (11.6 meters) in body length, making it one of the largest T. rexes ever discovered. It has 183 fossilized bones and is roughly 63 percent complete.

"Gus" is on view in New York until July 14, when the auction will take place.

A video posted to X by @WallStreetApes shows a creator reacting to an American woman's apparent plans to move to Afghanistan to be with her husband. This decision, in turn, has led to a heated debate across social media, with many users warning her about the country's restrictions on women under its infamous Taliban rule.

"I just came across this young lady's video talking about [how] she's moving from America to Afghanistan. To Afghanistan! (…) to be with her husband," the creator said in the now-viral clip.

According to the creator, the woman met her husband once in Pakistan and is considering moving to Afghanistan after he repeatedly tried to get a U.S. visa but was denied. "I'm looking through the comments to make sure I haven't missed anything. here are Afghan women in the comments telling her, 'Girl, don't do it. Don't do it,'" the creator said.

The creator continued: "You grew up in the United States. You've met this man one time in Pakistan, been there one time, and you're going to relocate to Afghanistan, where women literally have no rights." The creator also noted that the couple had discussed moving to Jordan, but wanted to know why Afghanistan was considered at all. "You're so in love. But it's like, love is not going to save you once you're there," she said.

On X, a user sarcastically said, "She should definitely do it and take her friends with her." Another commented: "It's doubtful she'll live long enough to have to worry about any of the social restrictions mentioned." "Oh God, I just posted about this. It's all over my fyp. She will not be safe there," wrote a third. Others referenced reports about women's rights in Afghanistan, while some went into unverified claims and objectionable rhetoric.

The video goes on to show a resurfaced video in which a female traveler described several restrictions affecting women in Afghanistan. "Rights in Afghanistan that bad in 2025? I traveled here to understand more as a woman myself, and this is what I learned," she said.

The woman described restrictions including bans on women appearing in media and prohibitions on girls pursuing education beyond primary school.

Several of those points correspond with findings from the United Nations, which says Afghanistan remains the only country in the world where girls are barred from education after a certain age. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have also recorded sweeping restrictions on women's employment, access to public spaces and participation in public life since the Taliban returned to power in 2021. In August 2024, the Taliban's so-called "vice and virtue" laws were criticized after U.N.

The Daily Dot has not been able to independently verify whether the woman has already moved to Afghanistan or still plans to.

According to Vogue, Kelce worked with jeweler Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry on the ring. Fans (14 million and counting have liked the couple's engagement announcement on Instagram) and jewelry aficionados are already buzzing about the new bling.

"Taylor's stone appears to be an antique elongated cushion, somewhere between eight to 10 carats," New York City-based jeweler Stephanie Gottlieb tells Yahoo. She estimates that a natural diamond of this size could range anywhere between $400,000 and $800,000. "Antique stones offer character that you can't replicate," Gottlieb adds.

So, like Swift, it's one of a kind. It's also right on trend.

"A super-elongated, antique cushion old mine cut is the trendiest, most requested cut of the moment," says Olivia Landau, founder of the Clear Cut. "This is something that's been trending for the past year or so and has become extremely popular, although it's very, very rare and hard to find."

The antique nature of the diamond aligns well with Swift's vintage-leaning style, says Landau. She points out that natural diamonds of this cut have character and charm that stand out from the lab-grown diamonds many brides are sporting of late. "With the rise of the lab-grown diamond, and everything being kind of standardized and perfect, we've been seeing more people looking for that uniqueness and almost imperfect vintage feel," she says.

The rich yellow gold band holding the stone also sets it apart. "Thicker bands and chunkier gold are definitely more statement-making than the traditional dainty solitaire [rings]," says Landau. Megan Kothari of Aaryah agrees, noting the ring's "delicate hand-engraving, filigree work and potentially some smaller pavé diamonds."

Indeed, Lubeck's work features intricate band details. Bezel settings are also a mainstay of her jewelry.

"Swift has a setback bezel," Landau notes. "It gives it that kind of vintage feel and complements the antique center stone without being a full bezel or button-back Georgian style. It's very indicative of her aesthetic and style."

While Gottlieb and Kothari both estimate the diamond being around eight to 10 carats, Landau isn't so sure.

"It's not only very elongated, but it's a little bit of a shallow stone as you can see from some windowing from the inside. So I think it appears a bit larger than its actual carat weight," she says. "I think it's probably closer to five, six or maybe seven carats maximum."

Whatever the size, Landau says it will be nearly impossible to replicate. "I'm honestly nervous," she says, referring to the calls and client requests she predicts she'll get following Swift's ring reveal. "These diamonds are already so sought after and so hard to come by. We're definitely going to see a huge spike in demand for them and prices going up. … It's going to be quite challenging."

As for what Swift's wedding band might look like, we couldn't begin to take a guess. But these kids believe it might just be brought down the aisle by one of the pop star's beloved cats.

Victoria is not the only member of the Beckham family who loves the sporting event. Kicking off day one of the tournament in 2026, Sir David Beckham looked dapper in a grey suit as he sat in the Royal Box alongside his mother Sandra, with the mother-son duo even joining in with a Mexican wave. David was also joined by Deborah Jevans, Chair of The All England Lawn Tennis Club, as well as stars such as Ronan Keating, Mary Berry and Tess Daly.

Back in 2025, David was spotted wearing a bandage on his arm as he arrived on centre court. Despite undergoing surgery a few days earlier for a broken wrist injury, the former Manchester United hero appeared in high spirits, dressed in a smart cream suit and a chocolate-brown tie as he smiled for waiting photographers.

With a major rainstorm in the forecast, one homeowner stopped procrastinating on a much-needed drainage system for a yard that slopes directly towards their home. 

After taking time off work and spending an entire night trying to "beat the storm," the homeowner finally finished the project and shared images of the working system on Reddit. 

What happened?

The homeowner explained the situation in the r/homestead subreddit. 

"My front yard slopes into my house, so I installed a French drain that runs across the entire front of the house and down one side," they wrote, sharing photos documenting both the construction process and the finished project. 

"I've been trying to do this after work but have been working a bunch of overtime. Eventually I saw that we were supposed to get several inches of rain in a big storm this weekend," the user wrote. 

The French drain — essentially a gravel-filled trench with a perforated pipe that channels water away from areas where it can pool or cause damage — was the homeowner's solution for the upcoming storm. 

They said they took time off work and labored through the night to finish it before the storm arrived. The drain connected to an existing foundation drain at the back of the house and used a 4-inch perforated pipe in a trench that was then covered in stone. 

The homeowner also pointed to some setbacks and costs. While using some supplies they already had on hand, they said the job would run about $1,000 to $1,500 if all materials had to be purchased. 

In the comments, the homeowner also explained that the trench for the drainage system was dug out by hand. 

Why does it matter?

Water draining toward a house can lead to foundation problems, soggy yards, erosion, and expensive repairs. Even a DIY drainage fix can make a major difference in protecting a home and making outdoor space more usable.

As climate change makes extreme weather more common, relatively simple and cost effective DIY home renovations like this can go a long way to preventing major damage when a storm hits. 

What can I do?

If water pools near your home, start by watching where it flows during rain. A French drain can help in some cases, but slope, outlet location, soil type, and local regulations all matter. 

For projects near a foundation, it may be wise to consult a contractor or drainage professional before tying into an existing system.

Luckily, for this homeowner, their new drainage system was able to prevent any flooding from the storm. 

As the homeowner put it, "After seeing the French drain actually drain when I was laying in bed that night and heard the rain I smiled."
