New aircraft shelters with a total of 6 parking positions at the north ramp (built in 2024). They were likely erected for the three Area 51 F-16 interceptors. A recent photo from Tikaboo Peak also shows several F/A-18, presumably from VX-9, China Lake, in these new shelters.

- New tower near the Precision Measurement Equipment Lab (PMEL, Building 410) (2024/25). This page shows the new tower from a location near Tikaboo Peak.
- Construction across from the Janet Ramp (12/2025). It is not yet clear if this will be a foundation for a hangar, a new ramp or something else. There clearly is a lot of available land east of the taxiway, with easy access to it.

New radar dome and associated equipment near hangar 19 (2024). This page shows the radar dome from Tikaboo Peak. Hangar 19 and its extensions have been associated with UAV projects, so this could be a tracking radar for a new UAV.
|
New structure west of hangars 20-23 (02/2025). The large covers around the four former F-117 hangars were added in 2020. They can be seen in our newer Tikaboo Peak photos. That group of hangars is believed to house the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) project. The new addition in the west looks round and not attached to the ixisting structure. It is approximately 50x75 feet in size.
|
New road from the water tanks on the side of Papoose Mountain to the gravel pit (10/2025). Very likely this road is actually on top of buried new water lines to the gravel pit. There appears to be quite a bit of activity at the pit, with new water ponds near where the new road ends. This likely indicates upcoming major construction at Area 51.

Earth moving (?) near the south end of the runway (2026). That area showed disturbed ground before, but there now appear to be construction vehicles in that area. The purpose is not known.
|
Runway 14/32 was re-designated as 15/33 in November of 2025 to account for the drift of magnetic north.

Additional changes over the April 2023 Google Earth image:
37°14'53.04"N 115°49'31.30"W - Construction near triangular RCS tower with a new small concrete pad.
37°14'37.27"N 115°47'58.13"W - Some parked vehicles and graded earth near north end arrestor cable
37°14'28.71"N 115°48'47.42"W - Quonset hut just north of the King Air ramp - covering has been removed. This covering was seen damaged in Esri World Imagery Wayback image dated 29th Sep 2024, so assume this hut is no longer used.
37°13'29.81"N 115°49'1.17"W - C-130 fuselage has disappeared.
37°14'36.75"N 115°49'11.14"W - Power substation has doubled in size up near Sam's Place, construction was seen in previous image on World Imagery Wayback.
37°13'3.33"N 115°47'2.91"W - Concrete section widened on the south runway extension at the southern most arrestor cable
37°14'6.02"N 115°48'2.64"W - Underground utilities laid across the old runway east of Hangar 19, I assume this is related to the radio site there.
37°14'54.59"N 115°49'8.94"W - New small concrete pad at the DYCOMS site at existing antenna
37°14'52.80"N 115°48'49.92"W - Two connected structures removed at the Quick Kill Radar site
