Work Text:
Rumi anxiously smiled at Zoey and Mira before going over to Bobby. He’d come over to have a party to celebrate their new album, and the girls were finally going to tell him about the whole demon hunter thing.
“Hey girls!” Bobby was cheerful as ever. Rumi didn’t think she could ever get tired of his happy demeanor.
“So, Bobby,” Zoey began. “We have something we want to tell you.”
“Oh, I already know that you’re all in a relationship.” He grinned. “I’m happy for you!”
They all stared at him. Rumi’s face turned red. Zoey started giggling nervously. Mira stiffened up like a startled cat.
“W-what do you mean?” Zoey asked.
“We’re not dating.” Mira added. “We’re just friends.”
Rumi was panicking. Was she really that obvious with her feelings? If Bobby had noticed, had Zoey and Mira noticed too?
“Oh my god! I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to assume, I guess, well, you’re so touchy with each other, and you’re so secretive too!” Bobby amended. “I didn’t mean much of it, I swear!” He paused. “Wait, what were you going to tell me, then?”
“So,” Rumi tried to steer the conversation back on track. “We’re demo—“
“Give us a second, please.” Zoey yanked Rumi and Mira off into her room.
“What are you doing?” Mira looked at her cautiously as she slammed the door.
“Can we discuss why Bobby thought we were a couple—throuple? I mean, I’ve always thought that we were closer than normal friends, but I just chalked it up to the secret demon hunters thing.” Zoey started to ramble. “I think I like you both, and I wouldn’t mind being in a relationship, I mean, I do occasionally think about kissing one of you, or both of you, or— Ah! Why am I telling you this?! Forget I said anything. I’m stupid. Let’s just go back to Bobby and tell him about the demons!” She started to hurry out of her room. Mira grabbed her hand before she could escape.
“Hey, hold on,” she said. “Zoey, we’re not mad at you. I actually feel the same way. For both of you.”
“Rumi,” Mira turned her attention to her. “How do you feel?”
Rumi started to laugh. She couldn’t help it. The bubble of fear in her chest had finally burst.
“Wait, why are you laughing?!” Zoey went back to being a nervous wreck.
“I’m sorry.” Rumi smiled at them. “I’m just so happy. I never thought either of you would like me back.”
Mira pulled her and Zoey into a tight hug. Before she knew it, they were all a crying mess.
“I think we owe Bobby another vacation,” Rumi said.
