The truth is, Japan hasn't always been like this. From the 1950s to the 1960s, Japan had a very powerful student movement, and they even stormed the National Diet Building. There are reasons why the Japanese have become so averse to debate, and one of them is that as the student movement became more radical in the 1970s, it became increasingly violent, encompassing internal conflicts, terrorism, and lynchings. In the end, the student movement resulted in over 100 deaths and over 5,000 injuries from internal conflicts alone, alienating most of the public and creating a sense of "cynicism" and "powerlessness" towards politics among young people. That's a pretty big factor.

This is a shortened version of the proverb, Originally mean "If you can clear your mind, even fire will feel cool." This phrase is known to have been uttered by a monk at the Keirin Temple, which was set on fire by the warlord Oda Nobunaga, just before he died, but it is originally a proverb from the Tang Dynasty in China. However, just because you have this tattoo doesn't mean anyone will think you're a Buddhist. They might even think you're an intellectual.

What's the point of this survey? Why are white Spaniards and indigenous Bolivians considered the same race just because they "speak Spanish"? Why are Afghans and Chinese considered the same race just because they "belong to Asia"? Why don't they just investigate ethnicity instead of race? Honestly, the concept of "race" is nonsense.
