I've been here for about an hour now. The instructions were to "Park at the curb and wait in my car."
There has been no process of checking in with anybody, however. No paperwork to sign.
A couple of COs wandering in the lot have told me to move which spot I'm in but that's about it.
Well, now someone just called me from a government phone number. They asked if I was going to be picking up Kara today And I explained to them that I was already here.
They asked if I was the person arriving in a taxi.
I said that I was not... That I had a rental car and explained that I had a long history of correspondence which I had emailed back and forth with the unit manager detailing all of this plan.
They said they'd call me back. I've now been parked out here for over an hour.
After continued silence from inside the walls, I've now made attempts to call back.
Most numbers do not pick up or go to voicemail. I've tried some routing around their phone tree using different inbound numbers and was able to reach the R&D team.
They confirmed they know that I am here.
I was able to get them to tell me that Kara allegedly knows I'm here, as well, which is one small good thing.
I figure we've got about another half hour before things get stressful with regard to airport check-in.
Rental car dropped off and now we are on the bus to the terminal. Flight starts boarding in about 10 minutes. Hoping to cutoff time for baggage is 45 minutes.
All the needless and idiotic delays that Carswell created were so unhelpful.
We're aboard the plane. ... The plane that they said we wouldn't make. 💺💺🤞
I'm pretty sure we could reduce recidivism rates if all detainees, upon their departure, were treated to fresh fruit and charcuterie when they hit the sky. 🍇🍌🥓🧀🍖
It is important to remember Kara was not the only trans person in there, and that we need to remember the treatment they are receiving and that we need to try and better things for them.

I'll be honest, I've been following updates for quite a while (over a year?) and I still don't really know the full story.
What I DO know is that you've repeatedly shown yourself to be a amazing person and friend. I don't know that I could have done it, were I in the same position.

Crying, omg. It's been YEARS. I deleted most my social media that I used to use to talk with her before she got snatched up. I'm so happy to see her out, and see her smiling again.
