I downloaded RESPONDUS which is a lockdown browser without knowing that it accesses all of my privileges and know I cannot even uninstall an application and my computer lags all the time. How do I reset all of these to default? Uninstalling Respondus does not revert what it changed in my laptop. Should I reformat my laptop? Will reformatting set everything to default and go back normal? I talked to a friend who also had same issue and reformatted her laptop but did not revert back to normal, meaning the changes RESPONDUS made to her laptop even after reformatting is still there, the only solution was she must set everything manually. Please help me and ban RESPONDUS from Microsoft OS.

Hi, many of my university mate are having issues with Respondus because it accessed their registry and changed some privileges even uninstalling it, making them have less privileges in their very own pc/laptop. Common case experienced is lagging, even I who have a decent spec laptop experienced lagging after downloading respondus. It is enough to consider this software a malware because of its capability to breach the registry of one's pc/laptop.

Respondus is not malware.
It is proctoring software and is required for many online courses.
Amongst other things, it prevents cheating on tests and plagiarism in course work.
You need to contact your university.
If a friend of yours has already tried on her own pc & it didn’t work then a clean install of Windows may be required.
Is there still any remnants of the browser within the registry?
After the exams how is the University expecting their students to remove the browser without it affecting their PCs afterwards if it locks it down? Do they have some removal tool?
Can you install any program? I was thinking that you could install Revo Uninstaller free, reinstall the browser then use Revo to completely remove it:

The uninstaller will run the program’s own uninstaller then allow the user to run a ‘scan for leftovers’, if the uninstall fails you can still scan for leftovers which will then be akin to a forced uninstall & will remove the program.
If this doesn’t work then a clean install of Windows is required. I don’t believe an in-place repair would work in this case.
