Because a Constitution Should Not Be Rewritten While Citizens Are Still Trying to Read It Something is happening in Zimbabwe right now. Not next year. Not in theory. Right now. Across the country, public hearings on Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB3) have already taken place, proposing some of the most significant changes to Zimbabwe's 2013 Constitution since it was adopted. Among the proposed changes are extending presidential and parliamentary terms from five to seven years, changing how a President is elected, restructuring key institutions, and altering constitutional safeguards that many argue were specifically designed to prevent excessive concentration of power. And yet millions of Zimbabweans still do not fully know what CAB3 is. That should worry all of us. Because constitutions are not ordinary laws. They are the rules that govern the people who govern us. This is not about political parties. It is about whether citizens fully understand changes that could shape Zimbabwe for decades. Across the public hearings, concerns were raised about limited consultation periods, inadequate venues, exclusion of dissenting voices, and whether such far-reaching constitutional changes should proceed without a referendum. Civic groups, lawyers, churches, constitutional scholars, war veterans, and ordinary citizens have all entered the conversation. The question now is simple: Should changes of this magnitude happen without every Zimbabwean fully understanding what is being changed? We believe the answer is no. That is why we are launching this campaign — a citizen-led constitutional awareness and engagement campaign. Not because every Zimbabwean must agree. But because every Zimbabwean deserves to know. Funds raised will support: * Civic education campaigns explaining CAB3 in simple language * Short videos, infographics, podcasts, and social media explainers * Community dialogues and youth discussions * Translation of constitutional information into local languages * Legal analysis accessible to ordinary citizens * Digital platforms helping citizens understand proposed changes * Public awareness initiatives focused on participation and accountability Let's be honest. Most people are busy trying to survive inflation, school fees, rent, fuel prices, and whether ZESA will grace us with electricity today. Constitutional law is probably not what most Zimbabweans discuss over sadza. But here's the thing: When the rules of democracy change, they eventually affect everything else. The Constitution belongs to citizens. Not politicians. Not parties. Not governments. Citizens. And before the ink dries on decisions that could shape future generations, Zimbabweans deserve information, participation, and a genuine voice. Because constitutional change should never happen around the people. It should happen with them. Not In Our Name. Our Constitution. Our Future. Our Voice.

Free After 23 Years

On May 19, 2026, Erasmo Bolívar, Luis Molina, and Héctor Rovain walked out of prison. They had been there for 23 years — making them the longest-held political prisoners in Venezuelan history. In April 2003, they were detained for their alleged involvement in the events of April 11, 2002 — a political crisis that shook Caracas and left dozens dead. They were sentenced to 30 years in a trial that human rights organizations denounced from the beginning as unjust. They served their full sentences, and more. For 23 years, their families waited. Venezuela fell. A generation grew up. And they were still there. Now free — but with nothing. No income. No savings. No foundation to rebuild. This campaign gives them what 23 years took from them: a new beginning.
