  • August 28th, 2025 - Hat Kid from A Hat in Time is revealed as a playable character in Fraymakers, set to release on September 18th. Fortnite X Deep Rock Galactic is revealed to release on August 29th.
  • August 19th, 2025 - At Gamescom Opening Night Live, a Sonic X Pac-Man collaboration is revealed with DLC for both Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Monster Hunter Wilds x Final Fantasy XIV is announced to release in September.
  • August 18th, 2025 - Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance: The SEGA Villains Stage DLC is revealed, set to include Dr. Eggman from Sonic, along with two other unrevealed guest villains, releasing in early 2026. Helldivers 2 X Halo: ODST is set to release on August 26th.

  • September 10th, 2022: In the latest Ubisoft Forward, it was revealed that Rayman will appear as a playable character in the third DLC pack for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope.
  • August 15th, 2022: MultiVersus Season 1 is released. New playable characters, including Morty Smith and Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty, Stripe from Gremlins and Black Adam are planned to release throughout the season.

  • March 9, 2018: Lara Croft from Tomb Raider appears in Final Fantasy Brave Exvius as part of a collaboration with the game Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris. The collaboration will end on March 23.

  • July 15, 2017: A gameplay trailer for Kingdom Hearts III was shown revealing a new world from the Toy Story series.

  • June 11, 2017: Bethesda announced that the Nintendo Switch version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, scheduled for a Winter 2017 release, will feature exclusive items from the Zelda series, specifically The Master Sword, Hylian Shield, and Champion's Tunic, unlocked by scanning a Link amiibo.
  • May 23, 2017: Revealed details about the game Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, a direct crossover between the Mario series and the Rabbids series, scheduled for release on August 29, 2017.
  • April 15, 2017: Tamagotchi m!x: Sanrio Characters m!x Ver. was released, the latest entry in the Tamagotchi series, including various Sanrio characters, such as Hello Kitty. This is quite a unique kind of crossover since players can couple characters from the different series together, giving birth to hybrid children.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS was released in Japan on September 13, 2014, and in North America and Europe on October 3, 2014.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U was released in North America on November 21, 2014, in Europe on November 28, 2014, and in Japan on December 6, 2014.

These are respectively the fourth and fifth installment in the Super Smash Bros. series, both featuring the same roster of characters, but different stages and game modes.

Like previous installments, they feature characters, stages and items from many Nintendo games. All the most iconic characters from the previous games return in the fourth installment, including characters from Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Pokémon, Kirby and more.

New characters include the dog and ducks from Duck Hunt, Little Mac from Punch-Out!!, the Villager from Animal Crossing, Wii Fit Trainer from Wii games and Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles.

The game also includes guest characters from non-Nintendo franchises, specifically Sonic, returning from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, plus the new entries Mega Man and Pac-Man.

The Lego Movie was released on February 7, 2014.

In this computer animated movie set in the Lego universe, an ordinary mini-figure named Emmet is mistaken as being the Special One, the greatest Master Builder who can save the Lego universe.

The movie is notable for featuring many elements from different Lego series, also including characters from licensed Lego sets, such as DC Comics characters, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and even Han Solo and C3PO from the Star Wars series.

Poker Night 2 was released in April 2013 for PC, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, with a scheduled iOS release. Like its predecessor, it's a crossover game featuring characters from different series as the players, in detail there are:

The role of the dealer is this time provided by GLaDOS from the Portal series, and there are cameos of characters from other series as well.

November 2012[]

With the start of the holiday season, November sees the release of many different crossover works, the most notable possibly being the Disney movie Wreck-It Ralph (pictured), about a video game character that travels from a game to another, meeting characters from various series, such as the popular Street Fighter, Sonic, Pac-Man and Mario series, but also less popular game series such as Tapper, Altered Beast and BurgerTime.

Another notable crossover released in November is PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, a fighting game featuring characters from many different game series published on PlayStation consoles, including the BioShock, InFamous, Uncharted, Twisted Metal and MediEvil series.
Other crossover works released this month are Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, a crossover between the Professor Layton and Ace Attorney series, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, featuring charachters from various Sega series such as Virtua Fighter or Shinobi as well as third-party guests Wreck-It Ralph and characters from Team Fortress 2 (PC exclusive), and Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition, the last installment of the Tekken series, featuring an exclusive "Mushroom Mode", with Mushrooms from the Mario series, and exclusive costumes based on Mario characters, as well as characters from Zelda, Metroid, F-Zero and Star Fox.

October 2012[]

Project X Zone was released in Japan on October 11, 2012 for the Nintendo 3DS and is a sequel to Namco × Capcom featuring characters from Namco Bandai, Capcom and, this time, also from Sega. Some new characters are Kite and BlackRose from Namco Bandai's .hack series, Mega Man X and Zero from Capcom's Mega Man series, and Akira and Pai from Sega's Virtua Fighter series.

March 2012[]

Street Fighter X Tekken was released in America, Japan and Europe on March 6, 8 and 9 respectively. It's the first actual crossover between the Street Fighter series and the Tekken series, but also features guest characters Pac-Man, Mega Man, Cole from InFamous and Toro and Kuro from Doko Demo Issyo. The game is produced by Capcom and features gameplay from Street Fighter. It will be followed by the Namco produced Tekken X Street Fighter featuring gameplay from Tekken.

January 2012[]

Soul Calibur V was released in Europe on January 3, 2012. Following the tradition of guest characters from other series, it features Ezio Auditore from the Assassin's Creed series. Ezio's the ninth guest character in the Soul Series, following Heihachi, Link, Spawn (in SoulCalibur II), Lloyd Irving (SoulCalibur Legends), Starkiller, Yoda, Darth Vader (SoulCalibur IV) and Kratos (SoulCalibur: Broken Destiny). This is Ezio's first direct appearance outside the Assassin's Creed series, since only his clothes have made some appearances in other games. Ezio's ancestor Altair, however, made a guest appearance along with other Ubisoft characters in Academy of Champions: Soccer.
