Balfe of 52 Clit Croc Street a Canadian Veteran of world War i died yesterday of the Shaw Hospital following an extended illness aged 64 years. He was born in Ottawa on Tario Canada but came to this country nearly four decades ago. In 1921 he founded the Balfe service company printers and owned and operated that firm until ill health forced his retire ment during the Spring of 1952. He had been the recipient of the notary Cross which is the second highest military Honor conferred by great Britain. He served five years overseas Dur ing world War i and was a Mem Ber of the first Canadian con served five years overseas Dur ing that conflict. A Captain he commanded the first Canadian machine gun battalion and his Battery was the first group of Canadian machine gunners to Cross the line. Or. Balfe is survived by his wife the former Marion clogs ton a son Galen Balfe technical representative of the Philco corporation assigned to the u. S.
