Adventures in Lancroft: Chapter I
The Ashmond
Legacy

In the quiet, isolated settlements of the valleys it's easy to keep a secret from the outside world. Something happened at the old Ashmond Estate that no one will speak about but sooner or later the old place will reveal its own secrets.

Meanwhile, in the city, Nathaniel Cromwell and Siobhan Kakar find the answer to their financial troubles landing right in their lap – but they soon find they have bitten off more than they can chew.

Nathaniel Cromwell

Nathaniel fled to the Vale of Newton, the up and coming city in the hilly north west of Lancroft, away from the trouble he had landed himself into back at the Capital – he soon fell into company with Siobhan and the two of them set up the 'Specialist Assistance' agency. Using his brains and her brawn, they fulfill any need their out of options customers might have of them – for a price. Nathaniel fancies himself a charmer and, for the time being, has had great success talking himself out of difficult situations.

Siobhan Kakar

Siobhan joined the Lancroft army when she was sixteen and spent ten years in service - when she left she lived off her army pension. The change of pace her life had taken left her battling Nihilistic cynicism, and she was unhappy with her lot. When the money ran out she had to find a new vocation and, luckily, around the same time she met Nathaniel, whose vital outlook on life was a much needed breath of fresh air.

Siobhan sees herself as someone seeking relevance and she refuses to become one of the jaded former soldiers she used to derided in her youth.

Authors Comment

This is the very first RPG I've made since my times plonking about in RPGMaker2000 as a teenager. While I'm sure it might show in some places, I'm actually really pleased with what I've accomplished and I'm proud to show it off! This is in no small part due to members of this forum – thanks you guys for helping me out when I got stuck!

Aw, damn it appeared to be working for me - maybe drop box was the problem.  I've hosted the images somewhere else now; hopefully they will work :)   Does the actual download link to the game work for everyone?

Oh right?  I can't seem to replicate the problem myself - is anyone else experiencing this?

Hey Morg!  I played some of your game on my Twitch channel a couple of days ago.

Not bad for a first project, I see potential however the overall experience was slightly unengaging.

If you would like to watch what I played of your game, it will be available in my past broadcasts for a couple of weeks.

Please don't be disheartened that I didn't play much, I'm kinda busy these days.

It's great to see a fellow Scot on here though! :)

Hey there, HuntingSwan!  I had a look at your stream; Thanks for the feedback :)

It seems my game is a litte more bottom heavy than I realised - alot of the good stuff (custom maps, cutscenes and mini games) is locked near the end of the game.  Although my use of heavy dialogue does pervade the whole thing.

I'll have to think of a way to spruce up long dialogue scenes for my next game and make them grab the player earlier. (and don't get me started on the combat)

And thanks, The Stranger :D   I hope you enjoy it.

Does anyone still have the RMXP and RMVX copies of Self Data Suite (I could try to find it myself, but I'd have to look for my external HD.)
Do y'all know about those old pokèmon glitches from WAYYY back in the day?
I thought it's really cool and creepy.
I just love them!
(Planning to add something like this kinda distortion stuff in a game sometime in the future maybe.. like lil graphical errors, tilesheet distortions.etc]
Posting for the day-crowd. You need tall sprites, I have all of them:

News of the forum shutting down is on Dexerto and is a top post on r/indiedev. Maybe there is a real chance they will walk back on this whole thing altogether if the backlash gets big enough.
