List of software, developers, orgs, and companies that are forbidden

It's happened enough times that the maintainers don't know the politics behind a certain project, that we have decided to make an official list of software that cannot be added due to its developers, orgs, or companies having views that are bigoted, regressive, or harmful in some way. The concept of Open Slopware has always been to help people make ethical choices by boycotting software made with harmful tools and recommending alternatives. For that reason, the following must not be listed as alternatives, referenced in the Why Not LLMs section, even if they have an anti-AI take of any sort, or recommended for More Kind Eyes Issues.

Orgs

People

Anyone listed here cannot have their projects recommended as alternatives nor submitted for "More Kind Eyes" Issues.

  • Jack Dorsey due to his dealings in crypto and selling of his social media site to an open fascist (and then helping to start another pro-AI social media website).

  • DHH due to:

  • Drew DeVault (Himitsu, vim-classic and xc) due to:

    Content Warning: descriptions of harassment towards marginalized people We understand he apologized, but that doesn't grant access to being recommended as a good alternative. There are plenty of other vim forks that do not have this baggage.

  • Cat-V due to:

    Content Warning: racist ideology, quoting hitler https://harmful.cat-v.org/
