幻覚で「小人」が見える食用キノコ、Lanmaoa asiaticaの謎
中国・雲南省では毎年夏、旨味が強い食用キノコのランマオア・アジアチカ（Lanmaoa 、「小人」が見える鮮明な幻覚を訴えて多数受診する。
2015年に正式記載されたこのキノコはフィリピンでも見つかり、パプアニューギニアで昔語られた類似の事例とも関係する可能性がある。
生物学者コリン・ドムナウアーはゲノム解析で種を確認し、抽出物がマウスに過活動の後の長い無動状態を起こすことも示した。
原因物質は未同定で、シロシビンとは異なるらしい。
症状は摂食後12〜24時間で始まり、1〜3日続くことがある。
研究者は、幻覚内容が異例に一貫する理由の解明につながると期待する。
In China’s Yunnan, an edible mushroom called Lanmaoa asiatica can cause striking visions of tiny, elf-like people if undercooked. Genetic work confirms the same species occurs in the Philippines, and researchers suspect links to older “mushroom madness” reports.
